I really like Toxie
L.I.E.
12 and Holding
Mean Creek
Mysterious Skin
All four are angsty teen dramas from 2000s
12 and Holding
He would have been a great Jack Reacher
If....1968
I've been meaning to try Gotham. DC in the movies has been less than satisfying lately (to put it nicely) but I've found some of the TV outings very good, particularly Flash
Citizen Kane has some of the most beautiful cinematography and Wells' performance is so captivating, but I can see how it may be a tad too deliberately paced for some. I never hung my enjoyment on the reveal, I was just like oh yeah I guess, but I love the movie overall.
I really like his Punisher, but that was definitely the beginning of his downfall. His life is very interesting, not like any other action star, highly educated and expert in several things, but didn't really translate to screen success in the longterm
I take it back, I just watched Split and liked it, strong performance by McAvoy and maybe redeemed Night
Oh yeah, no doubt, The Happening was really hard to get through and I don't think I've seen a Shyamalan movie since
Thanks I knew I wasn't crazy
Jesse Eisenberg, he is pretty famous I guess, but I think he only ever gave one performance I liked: The Squid and the Whale. When it came out I loved the movie and his performance so much, I thought, this guy is gonna be huge. Even though he has scored some pretty big roles, I haven't really enjoyed a single once since. He's never given me anything close to as good as The Squid and the Whale
What are your exceptions? For me it's all about Batman Returns, Unbreakable, and Raimi's Spider-man. I'd be lying if I said I didn't really like The Dark Knight, but TDKR kind of ruined it for me. I didn't like guardians either and couldn't figure out why everyone I knew was fluffing it so hard
I like a lot of Titanic stuff, the big one, the TV one, even Titanic Blood and Steel, which is not accurate at all but is entertaining. Cameron's really needs a continuous watch through, but even then a lot of people don't like it. Perhaps not your bag, man
Magnolia took some viewings for sure, and do like it a lot now. I can't seem to recreate that process with Inherent Vice, but I seem to keep trying
It was more from the boards that I was gleaning a negative response, (for Self/Less), personal experience reviews not critical. My impression of the Fall's reception comes from working at blockbuster at the time. I never heard a bad word about it, so it doesn't seem very underrated.
100% agree
Definitely disagree, but if you do, why? Those 2 (V and Watchmen) are, to me, pretty unwatchable. You don't have any that are like that for you? I love Inception, but clearly others don't. I'm not a big fan of a catch-all responses like "every marvel movie" or "all superhero films." This was meant to be quite specific. Watchmen to me is the epitome of style over substance. I don't care about any of the characters, the acting is really bad, but man it sure is pretty, had great trailer. That's not enough for me in a movie. I will say that looking back Watchmen isn't as bad as Snyder's more recent movies, but I can't bring myself to watch it again. I'd rather watch Sin City a hundred times. Sin City is the epitome of style and substance. It's maybe the only time a literal translation of a book to screen ever worked. V isn't really worth defending. If you can sell me on it, I will surely give it another shot.
Yeah definitely gonna watch this like tomorrow, gotta sleep, thanks for chats
He definitely has some acting chops, supposedly going to be in an upcoming film now that he's loose
