One of the more underrated movies... Great script... Martin Ritt did some good stuff!
My blue-eyed blond haired German backpacker friend spent months in Iran, and said it was very modern, and the 2nd most hospitable place after Afghanistan, but of course, they aren't as advanced... He couchsurfed all over Iran, hitchhiked a lot with no problem. The family would ask if he'd leave to have dinner, spend the night..
I love prison movies - most are very good.
(in this order)
-Birdman of Alcatraz
-Grand Illusion
-Le Trou
-A Man Escaped
-Pappillon
-Cool Hand Luke
-I Am A Fugitive From A Texas Chain Gang
-Brubaker
-The Shawshank Redemption
-Escape From Alcatraz
I've only seen about 10, but they've all been SO original... One movie whose title I forget doesn't break the 4th wall, it creates one!
Abbas Kiarostami is probably the best in that region, but I'd love to hear more recommendations.
Darn.... I'm sure you can find them online, somewhere.
thats the channel, Turner Classic Movies....
ET (eastern time)
lol, Superman!
That was the end result, but I've been looking and looking for the episode a week before, when Johnny (knowing Mort doesn't fall to prey to legerdemain) asks if Garrison "has the goods" and is surprised when Mort says Garrison is on the level... So Johnny announces he'll put him on the show in a week.
I'm not sure if I saw the second video, but I'll check it out... Thank you so much! :)
Carson had 33 years - I've been watching the re-runs, which you and others might enjoy on a local channel at 10pm ET.. Paar and Allen combined had under 10 years..
Are you rating the show, guests, skits, and everything else, too? Or are you going by who the funniest was, monologue perhaps? For example, I'd say that Carson had better guests, but again, he had a LONG time, and with that longevity, it was almost as if people HAD to go on that show, even those stars who didn't like doing it.
I think Jack Paar was the first man to attack the media, and didn't care less for the sponsors, who he saw as stifling, who were against free speech (he quit on a show, once!)... Steve Allen was very intellectually curious.
P.S. - Did you ever see Mort Sahl on the Carson show, when Mort suggested Jim Garrison be on the show (a week from that date)... it became his highest watched show, but I'll wait to see if you did. I know they destroyed the tape ASAP, so I can only find information about it first-hand.
Jack Paar was better.. Steve Allen, too.
Everything gets worse - movies, music, comedy, literature, etc.
lol
The winners have been mediocre at best, the rest have been awful.
I agree, and I saw 4-5 of his movies... I know people who don't even know him who'll say good things about him because they think they are SUPPOSED to.
I left it at a hostel in Melbourne :)
I also couldn't find it on youtube.. Can you please paste a link?
This is simplifying the game.. but I describe it like chess PLUS memorization, considering you can't see their pieces until there is encroachment, and I love that added dimension.
I had the game, but left it at a hostel in Australia.
That's a pretty accurate score on IMDB...
Stratego is very popular there! About 10 years ago, I played it for the first time, and never played chess since...
Hahaha! She's lucky I didn't steal her bike, lol...
I should clarify and say I don't think the directing and/or editing was good.... But the people are interesting.
