Johnny Carson
Johnny Carson was so much better.
shareBetter at what or better than whom?
shareGood song.
shareThat he was.

Yes! He was much better than any of the current crop of late night hosts.
They're all a bunch of arrogant, disgusting, unfunny political hacks. What makes them think they're qualified to preach to us about politics, especially since they're part of the Hollyweird cesspool of sexual predators?
π
Jack Paar was better.. Steve Allen, too.
Everything gets worse - movies, music, comedy, literature, etc.
I respectfully disagree, Bill. Paar and Allen were good, but Johnny was the King of Late Night!
π
Carson had 33 years - I've been watching the re-runs, which you and others might enjoy on a local channel at 10pm ET.. Paar and Allen combined had under 10 years..
Are you rating the show, guests, skits, and everything else, too? Or are you going by who the funniest was, monologue perhaps? For example, I'd say that Carson had better guests, but again, he had a LONG time, and with that longevity, it was almost as if people HAD to go on that show, even those stars who didn't like doing it.
I think Jack Paar was the first man to attack the media, and didn't care less for the sponsors, who he saw as stifling, who were against free speech (he quit on a show, once!)... Steve Allen was very intellectually curious.
P.S. - Did you ever see Mort Sahl on the Carson show, when Mort suggested Jim Garrison be on the show (a week from that date)... it became his highest watched show, but I'll wait to see if you did. I know they destroyed the tape ASAP, so I can only find information about it first-hand.
Are you talking about this?

That was the end result, but I've been looking and looking for the episode a week before, when Johnny (knowing Mort doesn't fall to prey to legerdemain) asks if Garrison "has the goods" and is surprised when Mort says Garrison is on the level... So Johnny announces he'll put him on the show in a week.
I'm not sure if I saw the second video, but I'll check it out... Thank you so much! :)
It turns out the second video is no good. Most of it is an interview with Jim Garrison's son, Jaspar. I posted the link after only watching the first minute or so, so I didn't realize at first that it was a bunch of bologna.
EDIT: That came out wrong. What I should have said is it wasn't what I had meant it to be.
2nd EDIT: That sounds stupid too, I guess I'm just an idiot. Forgive me.
3rd EDIT: You're right, the Mort Sahl interview is nowhere to be found.
Moose!!
Come back Moose!
You and your fun brand of weirdness are missed
With or without considering guests, Johnny was the greatest IMHO.
