What I'd do with her would most certainly be frowned upon by the Catholic Church!
LOL
It was just a complete unknown where they were in the mountains. You can't send out searchers to blindly cover 100-Million square miles of mountainous terrain. They had no idea if the wreckage was even in the search area, much less where it was in the search area. So there was really nowhere to send anybody on a ground search. Only an aerial search would have been feasible...and with low cloud cover in the winter and heavy snow, it was terribly dangerous to conduct even that search. The USA has some big mountains, but nothing like the Andes in the Winter.
The film had more of a religious angle that it should have...they were trying to market it to the Christian crowd at the time...so there was no way the filmmakers were going to get into the murky details of the cannibalism. It was meant to be a uplifting story, not really a documentary. A lot of the things in the movie didn't even happen (like the eating of the food rations because they thought a plane spotted them)...they added a lot of things to make it a more exciting, less morbid movie. Also the co-pilot survived and asked for the gun, not the main pilot as shown in the movie. Like I say, not a documentary.
Yep the search area actually included the area they were in...the planes the passengers thought they heard overheard really were the planes looking for them. But the fuselage was white and matched the snow and they just weren't spotted. After a week or so, it was felt that nobody could have survived that long and the search was called off. It's difficult to fly in those mountains in the Winter so it was deemed they could wait until Summer for a wreckage search.
Yeah I wonder what they were going through mentally having to eat humans to survive and thinking you were surely going to die. There was a photo where a few guys were smiling/laughing while sitting right next to a spine that was picked clean. There was probably a comedy aspect that crept in to deal with the impossible situation. It is said that impossible situations, you find the comedy in it eventually. They might even have felt they were down to their last days on Earth, might as well try to not be miserable, try as best you could to enjoy yourself one last time, to smile and laugh with friends one last time, even for a minute here and there.
I could see why someone might not like the last 3 movies you listed...but I'm really surprised you didn't like No Country or The Departed! Two classics right there. The Number 23, not the greatest film I'll admit, but I thought it was unique and very re-watchable. Allow me, if you will, though, to stand up for the other 2 movies!...
The Killing of a Sacred Deer -- I liked it but didn't think too highly of it initially...but it hit me a few hours afterward that nobody ever smiled in the movie. Then I thought "I'm not sure there were many facial expressions whatsoever." Then I heard someone say "This movie is set in an alternate Earth where there is no love and no outward emotions." I re-watched it and I was hooked. One of my Top 50 movies of all-time.
It Comes At Night - You don't seem like the type who cares about how a movie is presented before-hand, so this might not apply to you...but this movie was marketed terribly and made most people hate it. A bait and switch really. Made it seem like a sort of zombie/horror movie and it's not that at all. But one must get past that, in my opinion, and take the movie for what it is. And it's a drama set in a pandemic. Watching it now and realizing that this was made PRE-Covid is astounding. The protective gear, the distancing, the fear, the paranoia...it's crazy to realize this was made before Covid. The real plot was as if something worse than the Black Plague had appeared (and not just a strong flu like Covid) and what a small family in America might try do about it. And there certainly is no happy ending here...strong stuff at the end. I'd suggest giving it another shot. I seen it at the theater and was like most people, mad that I didn't see any zombies. That I was "Bait and Switched". But something about it stuck with me for a while...I kept thinking I missed or overlooked something. Again, like the Sacred Deer, I was hooked after a re-watch...realizing what I missed before and what I'm seeing now.
Oh for sure! Any movies I'm missing on that list, what do u think?
I envy you! I wish I could erase my memory and see it again for the first time. Man...I'm not sure how anyone could consider themselves a movie connoisseur and not have seen Requiem For A Dream. What a classic. If I were to give you a suggestion, it would be...stop whatever it is you're doing and watch it now...You never know an accident might befall you and you'll have never seen one of the best movies ever made!
Sheesh...I'd hate to know the real answer I think! If we had a machine that could find out the answer, and I were to set the over/under on what the answer the machine is going to say...I'd set the over/under at 12.5. I have a habit of watching my favorites over and over, trying to notice every last detail I can. And this is easily one of my all-time favorites. Not only have I watched it in full about a dozen times, I often find myself thinking about a scene, then watching just that scene over and over. So I'd hate to know how many hours of my life I spent watching this movie. On the other hand...I might also consider it time well-spent! Great movie.
I have it as the #3 movie since the year 2000...here on my "Top 50 movies since the year 2000" list!...

Yep, me too, I'll always go to the theater for an M Night movie, I think he's one of the best horror directors of all-time. I'm even a fan of The Happening! But this was the worst of M Night non-sci-fi movies that I've seen, unfortunately.
I give it a 2 as well... out of 100! :)
Man, you completely undersold how bad it was! :) It was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I liked The Happening much more than this pile of manure. I would be surprised if they could show this movie on planes...as people might start walking out!!
I'm going...
1) In Order of Disappearance
2) Chernobyl
3) Nymphomaniac
Oh no! That's what I kind of figured. Damn... well, I hate to say it, but I even liked The Happening from M Night, so I'm probably going to give it a shot anyway.
No, no...she "don't often seen a Mexican in a suit"...it's not that she NEVER saw one in a suit, lol!
PS - Little known fact...a coyote won't eat a Mexican.
I'll give you Rittenhouse acted in self-defense...but Zimmerman?! Pfffft! Please.
So you're telling me this: If you, Bob, were followed by a man who had a gun, a man who was told by 9/11 to stop following you, while you were out unarmed on a walk... And all we know for certain after that is that the person who was following you ended up with a couple bruises and you were shot dead...that we should all blame Bob for this incident and say the guy who followed and shot you acted in self-defense?!?! Really Bob? You're gonna blame the victim, yourself, on that one? Come on...quit being a partisan for two seconds and think about it. How do you follow an unarmed man and then shoot him and then claim self-defense? Only a right-wing jury, which Zimmerman clearly had, could have possibly returned a not-guilty verdict.
I think if Travon were a loved one of yours, you just might have a slightly different view of the case. No? You'd blame them still? You'd blame your son in this scenario and not the stalker/shooter? Only people who are, well, let's just say highly versed in right-wing propaganda, could believe such a nonsensical story.
Yes...thank you! I was once into Ghosts and Aliens and other nonsense too...but I always kept an open mind to facts...which is why I changed my mind about those items eventually as well. So I guess I've had that trait for a while. Anyway, thanks again for the facts/proof about that issue.
Well...you're certainly wrong about that part! I came here to delete my posts...I now feel after seeing the photo of the bullet in the air that I was incorrect in my assumption. So perhaps I'm wrong. The angle didn't look right to me. Getting that good of a shot off in the circumstances didn't feel right to me. But apparently I was incorrect. I'm man enough to say it.
$5? :)
