You need to finish Strange Darling. It’s probably not what you think it is at first. Melancholia - one of my top 5 of all time. Just everything about it is a masterpiece. It is the ultimate existential dread experience. Mother very good too. I need to watch that again. It’s been a while. I thought Naomi was really good. She has some acting chops and convincingly sold what could’ve been a largely forgettable movie. She plays the “girl losing her mind” bit really well. Off the subject, Willa Fitzgerald in Strange Darling was amazing in a similar downward-spiral sense. She needed a reason to leave without raising suspicion. Trump just gave her an easy out. The songs are what made it popular. I’ve seen it on and off Broadway and it’s a largely forgettable story. But there are some bangers musically. Hopefully they don’t get all soulful and note-y with them in the film. “Don’t forget about me!” - Cats “hey! I bombed too!” - Westside Story When the dad was at the fire pit burning things, he said that his wife has always known there was something wrong with him and has been covering up for him for years. The thing I remember most is he appeared inside of a diamond made of lasers. In the Star Wars era that was mind blowing. Then he started blasting lasers all over the arena. I believe it was at the Checkerdome (now known as St Louis Arena) in St. Louis, MO. I never was a huge fan of the song heartlight. It was OK. My favorite Neil Diamond song has always been Love on the Rocks. Fun fact about this song - it was a love-letter to the film E.T. which moved Neil when he first saw it. If you listen to the lyrics there are direct references to the film. Also - I saw Neil Diamond live in maybe '82. My first concert ever. I know her from HIMYM as well. It's not uncommon for a good actor to languish in TV Land for a while before a good film role comes along. Glad she got her chance and killed it. Let's not forget this is a comic book/superhero show with a comic book sensibility. This is all wildly exaggerated and to generate emotion. Many of these characters - particularly Penguin - do not look or act like real people. Look at how little it took for Oz to KILL HIS OWN BROTHERS!? He did it happily and without regret, too. I think the showrunners wanted to remind us - rather harshly - that Penguin is an absolute psychopath on a deep deep level. Mission accomplished I say. Gender definitely exists as it has for millions of years. Regardless, it’s a good movie. If he is then we get JD who is a king as well. Win win. Because in 2020 - and only 2020 - there were an extra 15 million votes that magically appeared for Biden overnight. Those 15 million votes are gone in 2024. LOL - you watch the evening news. No wonder you voted for her. I agree. But don’t think for a moment they’re done trying. From what I've read he is simply awful to work with and wildly sensitive these days. I would've simply not cast him. She’ll definitely get the horse-vote now. She needs to focus on unburdening what has burdened her, and us and for all to just love each other and unburden our joy for what makes us different. Policy? What's that. Plans? Who cares? What's more important is that these words that are coming from my mouth will unite and heal all the burdens. Together we can unburden our burdens. I like Cailee. She fills that hole Ellen Page left behind. I agree the rest of the cast was shite.
