It lightly touches on gender, sexuality, but somehow manages to be not woke.

The director didn’t pander or spell everything out for the audience. My intelligence was respected. I think it’s obvious that Chad dies at some point and that’s why she doesn’t want her to be with him. To spare her from the pain. But I guess it comes down to the “it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all” adage - and they both learn something from each other. Good movie.

Margot Robbie is one of the producers. She has many projects in the works, both acting and producing.

She was the producer who made billion dollar Barbie get made long before she chose to play the title role.

Guess I'll not be watching this one since I did not have the discipline to heed the "Spoiler Alert." ;D

It isn't 'woke' stuff that has ruined society, it's clearly the propagation of you 'everything is woke' idiots!

The word 'gender' is many hundreds of years old...Even the "male or female sex" meaning(which comes into usage later) dates to the early 15th century!

"Everything is woke"? I don't recall saying anything like that, champ. You're lashing out at your own strawman.

The film addresses "gender" in the trendy sense of people choosing whether they "identify" as male or female, and that, quite clearly, is what I was referring to. The characters aren't having a dialogue about grammatical gender, surprise surprise. Your delving into age-old word etymology, in the hope of serving up some kind of "gotcha", is beyond pathetic.

Anyway, the concept of some innate human gender, remote from biological sex, is grade A horseshit. This is illustrated by the widespread inability of left-wing politicians, academics and activists to even state what a woman is. The film, on account of exploring such nonsense, is woke.

There are gender ROLES and gender STEREOTYPES but gender only exists as a synonym of biological sex. There are no male women or female men. There are males with a mental disorder who think they are women, and females with a mental disorder who think they are men.
