Martoto, you got to calm down buddy. Take a chill pill, sheesh. He did so implicitly by laughing along with a statement advocating the assassination of Trump. Gotta admire old Jackie boy for having the courage of his convictions. Pretty smart of him to advocate the assassination of politicians he doesn't like only to tuck tail and run for cover afterwards. I'm sure Team Biden is now especially ecstatic over Black's enthusiastic endorsement. Of course, old Joe is probably more concerned whether he's got a full stock of Depends at the ready, but no doubt his campaign team will distance themselves from the leader of the Tenacious Dbags. Black is being disingenuous. His tour was going to be cancelled for him whether he liked it or not, so he just smartly got out ahead of it. And I seriously doubt he was blindsided by anything. Gass's sentiment and Black's reaction show what they truly feel. Everything else is just a phony apology, probably demanded by Disney if Black wants to keep pimping himself for Kung Fu Panda sequels. It was lame of him to throw Gass under the bus. The guy has been his friend for something like 30 years. Black could've just said, "He made a dumb, insensitive comment. I disagree with it, but I stand by my friend. He's not the bad guy everyone is making him out to be." Instead, Black dumped the whole sordid incident on Gass, despite his laughing along with it and implicitly signaling to the crowd that the comment was perfectly acceptable to him. Douchebags like MiguelGordon have a meltdown when they're called on their hypocrisies. Democratic party voters are generally the ones pushing dumb agendas like "words are violence," yet when confronted about how they don't practice what they preach they descend straight into gaslighting mode. Any challenge of their propaganda gets twisted into accusations of snowflakery, etc. Their gaslighting is basically a subconscious confession. I say "subconscious" because such people seem to lack the mental guts to self-reflect, and logical consistency is out of the question for them. Reasoned debate for them consists of singsongs and trying to shout people down. He's a terrible actor, to begin with. He was the worst part of Blackhawk Down. When he's trying to appear upset at the loss of some of his men (I'm thinking of his scenes with Eric Bana), you can practically seeing the cranks and gears in Hartnett's mind spinning around and telling him, "Furrow your brow, wince, frown..." and so forth. Everything about his acting seems fake and forced. He really saved you the time wastage of watching this rather lame show. You could consider it an inadvertent favor. I agree. Now why would an obviously perceptive, intelligent fellow such as yourself be a fan of a show like Friends? The characters in the show are exactly the types who would presently be pushing diversity agendas from their lofts in Manhattan and Los Angeles. Is it? I mean the sitcom featuring an insufferable array of whiney yuppie asswipes named Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, Phoebe, and Ross. Asswipes who, admittedly, much of the USA apparently aspires to be. We must be talking about different shows because at first glance you don't appear to be a moron. You could just as well make an analogous case for a male drag queen playing Wonder Woman. The queen would be "allowed" to be sexy as females of old once were on screen, etc. She should change her name to Sydney Smammary. That's not true. There's a high correlation between the pound-me-too people and political inclinations. Most definitely almost every idiot passing around #MeToo and #IBelieveHer hashtags years ago were self-proclaimed liberals and, in the USA, Democratic Party voters. Republicans play their identity politics games as well, but not in this realm. "Why the fuck are we even talking about this shit?" My bet is that these are two dumb, childless, middle-age cows who are embittered that time has made its mark on their wrinkled faces and are looking for a quick payout from the one man of any renown they ever knew. Bill Murray, Jim Carrey, and Steve Martin have all had more impressive careers than Eddie Murphy. But forget about them. Charlie Chaplin beats them all by almost any measure except, perhaps, box office numbers (and Chaplin's films were very profitable, usually returning 3-5 times the budget). But Eastwood took the mantle right after the period of time you cite. One could argue it wasn't until Dirty Harry in 1971 that Eastwood became the mega superstar. There's probably no metric that would decide between Eastwood and McQueen in the 1970s, but McQueen basically did nothing after 1973. Eastwood was at the top of his game exactly at that time. Add to that Wayne dying of cancer, and Brando becoming a fat slob and perceived nutcase, there's no question that Eastwood had overtaken them by then. Studly newcomers like Jan Michael Vincent and Jon Don Baker (see Mitchell) never could measure up. Maybe in England. Sean Connery as the ultra-cool male icon disappeared the instant he abandoned the Bond role. Clint was macho cool personified for at least 20 years across a variety of roles. Eastwood redefined cool for the male movie star. The screen personae of Wayne and Brando were pretty much obsolete the instant the Leone westerns became well-known in the United States. I imagine this must've been a factor in their dim opinion of Clint and his work. Clearly a setup, as you say. Elsa admitted as much at the country house near the end of the film. This was known even earlier after Doc outed her as a fraud at lunch, and Szell implied the same soon after when Doc confronted him about involving family. Now that you mention it, Caddyshack feels like three or four separate movies stitched together. Movie #1 is the least interesting, the story of everyman teen Danny Noonan and his quest to overcome his humble upbringings. Movies #2, #3, and #4 are pretty much extended SNL skits for Murray, Chase, and Dangerfield, with a thin plot contrivances to bring them together occasionally. That said, the funniest moments of Caddyshack are right up there with Animal House, thanks mainly to Murray and Dangerfield (Chase appeared to be sleepwalking through his role). The problem was the all the filler involving the caddies and Lacey Underall. As an aside, the actress who did played Maggie with the ridiculously thick Irish accent, Sarah Holcomb, was also the underage checkout girl that Pinto banged in Animal House. I hadn't known that for the longest time, and it still surprises me.
