Trump should not have said those things considering the pure evil of the Putin regime. But I think you have to be more realistic about the fundamental situation. How long were we expected to wait for the Ukraine “offensive” to actually accomplish something after two years? Why are Americans expected to shoulder almost the entire financial cost of the war rather than Europeans who still buy Russian gas at unprecedented levels to finance Putin’s war machine? Why is the average age of the Ukrainian soldier 45 years old while their young fighting-aged men dodge combat service that is supposedly so existential that America has to transfer endless billions to the cause?

I admire your restraint.
I have mixed reactions. On one side, I give a lot of deference for people to have the right to control their own healthcare decisions (especially as relates to this vaccine that turned out to have ambiguous benefits compared to what President Biden touted).
On the other hand, I feel that these service members were given a lawful order to get vaccinated and violating direct orders is absolutely unacceptable behavior in a professional military.
In the end, I accept the President’s authority as commander in chief to issue pardons like this. It reminds me a lot of the 1977 precedent by President Carter in pardoning the 50,000 men who evaded the Vietnam draft and fled to Canada.

It’s a clever, well written show and Amer is clearly capable of carrying it. Some of the stories took some wildly contrived turns and there’s a lot of gratuitous and shallow caricatures of white people and excessive doses of Islamic religiosity. Just when I think the show has gone too far in those directions, it again turns self-deprecating and funny or pulls the viewer back with one of the intriguing interpersonal relationships. I think your description from two years ago is very accurate. I watched all of season 1 and found it overall entertaining. Amer’s character reminds me a lot of the popular Kevin James King of Queens sitcom character. I saw the show got a second season but I’m on the fence about investing more time.
The irony is that every time we try to name anything in this country to honor American Indians, people like Behar go ballistic and label it racist or cultural appropriation.
What else are we to do? We’re being abused by China that over-manufactures vastly more than their own economy could ever need so that they can keep their own underpaid citizens employed and in line. The goods are then dumped in American markets at fire sale prices that destroy all U.S. competition (which is forced to charge higher prices due to our litigious products liability exposure tort system, consumer protection regulation, and employment benefits for workers).
Europe offshores their defense to the American taxpayer which allows them the cash to subsidize their own industry. The U.S. Navy is almost solely responsible for policing global supply lines and shipping lanes so that international manufacturers and food producers aren’t overwhelmed by insurance costs passed on to consumers. No country reimburses the U.S. for this. Canada instead manipulates their currency to make American goods more expensive. Other countries like India incessantly tariff American goods. We have trade deficits with nearly every other country on the globe. That can’t be statistically possible in a fair system. Apparently, we’re just supposed to take it?
In the name of “free trade” for everyone else, we have exported our best manufacturing jobs overseas so that we’re mainly producing jobs in the U.S. for waiters and nurses.
For the time being, we have the largest economy in the world. Although prices will rise with tariffs, it will motivate American ingenuity and create a work around industry and employment that will offset modestly higher prices.
I don’t know what else we’re supposed to do.

Canned laughter is terrible. Kat Dennings’ voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. The jokes are weak. Every time I’m about to give up on it, the third act of each show ends pretty well. If it survives to a second season, I hope they re-work it.

Unfathomable corruption. It provides a lot of context to explain the insanely biased media over the last four years. Politico never mentioned any of it in any of their coverage purchased by the Biden Administration. Their largest financial customer was the U.S. government. This is going to explode when Congressional hearings start. USAID was a snake pit of corruption, CIA influence peddling, and cultural colonization of other countries. The Dems are still defending this debacle like the Soviets with Chernobyl. It shows how untethered they are from reality.

I’m not defending Trump. I’m calling you out for your arrogance in thinking you are the voice of condemnation of those who avoided military service when you didn’t have the courage to serve either.
That’s what I expected. Brave to criticize others for avoiding military service but too cowardly to admit you’re no different.
