He also claimed Zelensky has only '4% support' nationwide which is also incorrect, as the President has still got a high approval rating amongst Ukrainians..

He also made some comments about the lack of elections currently in Ukraine, which while strictly correct, he then called Zelensky a "dictator", ironic, when one considers the 'elections' in Russia which constantly return dictator Putin to power, with his opponents either denied the chance to stand, dead or in prison.

My impression so far with regards to Ukraine is that Trump is entirely on Putin's side. Perhaps not entirely surprising as, at the end of the day, they are both bullies. As for holding talks on ending the war without even inviting one of the participants ... wtf?

Trump should not have said those things considering the pure evil of the Putin regime. But I think you have to be more realistic about the fundamental situation. How long were we expected to wait for the Ukraine “offensive” to actually accomplish something after two years? Why are Americans expected to shoulder almost the entire financial cost of the war rather than Europeans who still buy Russian gas at unprecedented levels to finance Putin’s war machine? Why is the average age of the Ukrainian soldier 45 years old while their young fighting-aged men dodge combat service that is supposedly so existential that America has to transfer endless billions to the cause?

All good questions and points, although it has to be said that European countries have contributed a good deal of support on their own account while the youngest Ukrainian troops remain exempt from front-line combat. One can also applaud any attempt at at least starting peace talks in some form. But it is still worrying that Trump pushes what looks like the Russian line, offering concessions which Ukraine has not agreed to, while managing to confuse and alienate the natural allies of the US and Ukraine.
