I think the scene works because it could so easily go either way. Like some have said, I can see it being true because he thought if he complied he'd be let go (Yeah, you might go for the bite, but you might not, even if you believe death is a minute away, you may want to extend it for that minute instead of bringing it on sooner). I can also see it being made up to upset the dad I don't know your background, but I was 14 in real life on the night in question, so the nostalgia hit me just right, and this movie worked for me Gladiator II, a bit of a reach, but it's not like they were trying for complete historical accuracy (just look up Lucilla's real death, for one). But, he was clearly portrayed as wealthy, powerful, well-traveled. Plenty made their way from Egypt to Rome, so not completely unreasonable to think he just started from a bit further south Okay but does it really matter since it's a FANTASY?! Mila Kunis is Ukrainian but no one got up in arms about that Which is your opinion, and obviously many share that view, and others do not Well, that's the crux of the issue. Only he knows for sure. If the answer is truly yes, there's no way to prove it unless he says so. If the answer is no, there's no way to make everyone believe it. So you just have to come to your own conclusion. Also, it's worth taking into account that most people and many situations are more gray than black and white, and teenagers are not the best decision-makers, and it was a heated situation. I won't even say what my opinion is, just think these are all factors worth noting Yeah but it's subjective, so don't be a gatekeeper I feel like it wasn't well-received because people decided to not like it before they saw it. A lot of that had to do with no Spielberg and Lucas, and Disney. I was born in 85 and have long loved these movies. But it's one of those franchises where nothing will be the original. I'll never say this movie is my favorite of the franchise, but I don't really see why people hate on it. I'm not big on time travel as a plot device, even though so many of the things I love seem to arrive there. But I enjoy this movie, it's a fun adventure for a few hours, and it's a solid finale to me. Maybe Wes was Dewey's, and we saw a whole family annihilated. As for the twins, meh. There was one scene at their house, totally believable their dad was just in another room. Which is very true. One just has to accept that you shouldn't over-think these movies, just enjoy them. Like, are we accepting these movies as fiction anyway, or absolute truth? None will beat the original anyway, ever, imo I like your outlook. Pretty much how I feel. One of those series where even the worst entry, whatever one may feel it to be, is still an entertaining two hours. I generally feel the vast majority of movies have the potential to be entertaining if you allow yourself to enjoy it without being too critical. That said, it very much feels like the Terminator: Dark Fate of its franchise I always assume that the situation was brought under control off-screen shortly after the scene ended. The kids made their point, and the parents rallied and got things to stop. As for authorities... movie magic. They probably just didn't want to bother with pressing charges, thinking the less to do with the Addams, the better Glad to know I'm not alone :) Mixed. Overall, as a movie, I love it. I watched it maybe a month ago. I love it. Read the books as they came out, saw each movie a couple times in theater. As an adaptation, it is what it is. Anyone who reads the books and watches the movies (of really any franchise) knows that things are going to be missing or altered. As usual, I understand the choices, but still lament some of them (PEEVES!) As it stands in comparison to the rest of the series. Least favorite. And I saved this bit for last, so you can see from above I am a fan and do love it and am not bashing it. However. There are series like Scream, which are more episodic as opposed to serialized. I love the Scream sequels, but that's a series where the original will always be my favorite. In other series, like Harry Potter, the first is often my least favorite for the simple-fact that it's so much exposition and world-building. He may have been in luck due to the types of knives being used. I don't remember how/when/where I learned this, just one of those odd things you remember in life. But I remember learning once that it's better to be stabbed with a super sharp knife like the kind Ghost Face usually uses as opposed to something dull and serrated like a butter knife. Because the butter knife will shred you up more (think split ends v. clean cuts) and would be harder to put back together. Make of that what you will Ahahaha, far from a favorite episode for me, but I'd rather have that than have so much stuff cut. As it was, they didn't explicitly answer everything. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the finale and didn't feel everything needed spoon-fed. But lack of answers was a common criticism. If the series were shorter, they'd have had less time and answered less. Yes, one could argue that if they did that, the writing would've been tightened and they could've better answered the questions that were posed. That might've left the show feeling more surface-level than the deep-dive we got. Which is probably part of why it's so memorable that it's still discussed. A lot of new shows that are shorter in all regards probably won't be as widely remembered come 2044. Cool/creepy idea, but I think not. Simply because there was a big time jump in between this episode and when the Whisperers were introduced, and I really don't think that the Whisperers would just know about Alexandria and do nothing about it for that long Lmao, saw this old post of my own, I called it shortly before it happened They also gave it its title because the original title for Return of the Jedi was actually Revenge of the Jedi, so it's a way to pay homage to that. I don't know if it's really fair to call it "the last great" when it's simply widely considered the best. So of course anything after feels less, but that doesn't mean they're not great in their own right.
