I'm not being sarcastic, I think people in general prefer romance with an element of action trying to find a solution rather than a film about 2 engineers.. unless 1 of the engineers happened to be an attractive female. I don't think I would have been able to live the whole rest of my life alone. I think Downs Syndrome is different from something like cancer where you know the child will need to have a lot of painful treatments. It's a difficult question for me. Very true.. it makes much better films to have a romance rather than an engineering film! Not all of them but a lot (it wasn't IMDb though, it was the person who set up this website). I must have missed that.. I thought that was just the command centre, not the crews pods as well. I guess he probably still could have found someone who would know more than an author would though. I don't think many women know their children are going to grow up to have cancer do they? I don't think Tom Hardy is right for the role, I personally could imagine Tom Hiddleston in the role. Perhaps it's because Daniel Craig is the James Bond I've seen the most and Tom Hiddleston has a similar kind of look whereas I think Tom Hardy is a bit more rough and ready than I imagine James Bond to be. I don't understand why someone would get so worked up about it.. I don't know whether the original poster is even a man or a woman let alone who they are (nor do I really care) for them to get upset about me potentially seeing their posts. I always say - never post anything on the internet that you're not willing for the world to see because once it's on here, anyone can potentially read it if they want. I'm sure Jim will eventually allow people to remove their posts, he has mentioned as much in other messages, I just don't get why anyone would care. I think he is one of the best actors because he truly transforms for each role.. you are right that he has been slightly type-cast though which is a shame because I think he could play a wide range of roles.. he doesn't just play straight-forward heroes/villains though, there is always depth to his characters. For me, the greatest living actor is Gary Oldman, some roles you can't even recognise it's him, he truly is an acting genius although I do think perhaps he's got a bit lazy in recent years but who can blame him at this stage in his career, he can do what he wants! I used to think Johnny Depp was a great actor too and he has been in the past but now I think he has become Jack Sparrow and seems to play him in everything! He was good one Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas though. Leonardo Di Caprio also has to be one of the best younger actors. To show that Tom Hardy can look sexy doing anything.. even opening water bottles. I think that's why I liked it though, I liked that it was different to the other 'superhero' movies.. he's not a good guy.. He's a far more interesting character to me than Captain America for example. Yeah, pretty short sighted though.. he could have gone after her when they arrived at the planet if he had woken someone up who could find a way to put them back into hibernation.. and if he found out that it was definitely impossible, then he could have gone after the pretty girl to keep him company. I agree Jackintocupboard and Popcorn Kernel.. the donkey was no doubt trained to fall and as for the kangaroo, how do you even staple a kangaroos foot to the floor?! That sounds like when my uncle told me he ate monkey brains like a soft boiled egg when he went lived abroad! I would choose a monkey as they're most similar to humans I've not seen the original before, maybe I will watch that too and see if it differs much from the new version. My main complaint about the new one was that with each episode, they seemed to ignore the previous generation and I wanted to know what happened to Kunta, Bell and Kizzy.. perhaps they will cover that in the final episode. I probably would have woken up some of the crew to try and work on a solution.. who is to say that there wasn't one but they didn't wake up the right person who could discover it? He woke up a person who probably knew less than he did (being that he was an engineer and she was an author).. I agree with what the others have said about 1 pod not being able to sustain 2 people but given that we accept the fact that the ship has just 1 auto pod (even if we think that's stupid) I think they have 2 options they don't appear to have considered.. sharing the time in the pod so 40 years each (although they would both be old when they come round and would have to spend 40 years alone), or she takes the majority of the time and then swaps over for 10 years or so, so that he can experience the new planet, even if he is really old when he gets there. I'm not generally a fan of sci-fi but I enjoyed this film. My question was whether you would have a child knowing they're going to suffer and die at a young age.. I'm not sure whether I would be able to put a child through that but it would be a difficult one because I'm sure their daughter had happy times too however if she never existed, she clearly isn't going to miss it. Have you watched the remake with Forest Whittaker? I've just watched episode 3 and I think it's really good. I really enjoyed it, found it a bit of a fun, easy viewing film although I did struggle with her letting both men believe they were the father! That was a bit cruel.
