It is.. if they were at least honest about it and called it Solaris the series people may be more open to it but don't pretend it's an original idea. I agree with that, it's a mystery to me how some films have made it to the top 250! I agree. I found the premise of setting up a community on the planet quite interesting to start with, I liked that the technology seemed more believable and like we know already and I liked the mystery behind why he has been sent to the planet rather than an engineer. However, I'm not enjoying the aspect of the show where their past is haunting them, it makes me think the show will end up being another Lost and focus on redemption of the characters which has been done a thousand times. No, there was nothing between the two of them, she just cared for him like a son or younger brother and he had no interest in women in that way. I got the impression that he was kind of timid and not the type to make a first move with anyone and with his persona, perhaps other gay men didn't feel safe approaching him as he seemed like he might be a violent troublemaker.. it definitely shows not to judge a book by its cover! I agree with icarusflies.. the fact that he asked Juan makes it pretty clear that he had sexual feelings for men, the only question for me is whether Kevin was or whether he was just experimenting with his sexuality. Whatever the answer, I hope they both went on to live happy lives because they both seemed to have had tough lives up until that point and seemed to deserve some happiness! I gave it a 7/10 which for me means that it was enjoyable and I didn't get bored but I also wouldn't particularly want to watch it again. 8.4 does seem very high when you consider some of the films rated lower include Lawrence of Arabia, Full Metal Jacket and Scarface. I'm a heterosexual female but think that Emma Stone is a very beautiful woman.. she seems to be naturally beautiful rather than caking herself in an inch of makeup. I agree.. I've not seen Manchester by the Sea or Moonlight but La La Land wasn't anything spectacular in my mind. I guess it's kind of unusual to have a musical nowadays but I don't think that makes it exceptional. My favourite films of 2016 were Lion, The Founder and Snowden. I'm also not entirely sure what Emma Stone did to deserve the best actress Oscar either.. she was good but not the best I've seen. All true.. I just thought that in those days particularly, he wouldn't have much chance as they didn't have the medical knowledge and equipment we do now. Regardless of all of those things, I did really enjoy the film! For me, a film has to be perfect, without flaws to get a 10 and so the ending meant I couldn't say it was perfect.. Its a shame because I thought it was one of my favourite films I had seen in a while. I enjoyed the fact that it covered such a long time period and we learned a little piece more about her history as we go through, but it kept us guessing about how it all fitted together. I also liked that they took risks and pushed the boundaries because I can't think of any other film that would have broken that taboo with the baby.. Game of Thrones is about the only thing that comes close to that which I can think of. I just think the ending became a bit too surreal/comic book.. we also never got an explanation for how he survived having his throat cut as he seemed pretty dead at that moment! It just seemed as though the film couldn't quite decide whether it was serious or whether it was a horror movie complete with resurrected bad guys! I agree.. had someone abused me as a child I don't think they would be in my life anymore let alone my children's lives! In most things I've watched he seems to have a very English accent! Tim Roth doesn't appear to be in the original video though, was that just a signature? I think this was a cross between Hateful Eight and Kill Bill.. I'm not a huge fan of Hafeful Eight but I enjoyed Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained, I do also quite like Pulp Fiction although it's definitely overrated. I think I would have given this a film a 9/10 if the ending had been better but in the end, I gave it an 8 because I really did like the rest of the film. Yeah, now I know he's his son I can definitely see the resemblance! I definitely had no issues hating Guy in this film! I think the only redeeming characteristic he had was that he truly seemed to believe that what he was doing to his family was the right thing but even so, he was an awful human being! How odd.. haven't checked him on IMDb he is listed because people have given thanks to him for films... he doesn't have a film which has more than 10 ratings though.. poor old Jesus. I hope you enjoy it and am curious to see if you think the same as me, that the ending was weaker than the rest of the film. I thought she did a decent job at convincing me of her role.. and the film explains why she would be a young mother (although she is 23 so being a mother to a young child isn't entirely unbelievable even in this day and age!) Are you kidding? No films show muslims in a negative light? Muslims are shown almost exclusively in a negative light in films and will usually be shown as terrorists. I didn't realise that was Tim Roths son! As for Guy Pierce, he makes a very good baddie in this film! He was definitely a character I loved to hate.
