It would be better if there was some kind of (email) notification. In that case it would be more useful to go around the boards posting new messages and there would be a bigger chance at getting replies and at discussions picking up again.

I'm not sure psychologists can share that kind of information with the parents of the patients, but the way it was presented it seemed like the mother was in denial about the problems of her child. You say "when the heroine's father is not a king or a chieftain" and then you give the Sultan as an example. Mulan's father isn't a king or chieftain and he isn't short either. So there are really only two examples. Not enough for a trope. Dead mothers is more of a trope.
