If you read the script it actually states exactly this in their character bios.
Agreed. Him jumping would do nothing but kill them both.
Alerting a guard of her jumping gives the very slim chance that she can be rescued and survive.
If he jumped they would've just froze to death/drowned in the water and no one wouldve been wise to the fact that two people jumped ship.
My thoughts are of various things. Mainly bills, my job, family. I usually think ahead a lot. Like worrying about next year and the year after. I know it's not healthy and I shouldn't worry about things that haven't happened yet, or may not ever happen, but I can't help it.

At one point it was but then after a few briefings and deliberations, they changed a few things and now it is no longer a remake but instead, a reimagining, if you will.
