Reminds me of Disneys Pocahontas when her dad almost killed John Smith but Pocahontas jumped in and said "if you kill him you'll have to kill me too".
If she jumped, he would have likely walked to the railing looked down shrugged his shoulder and gone back to gazing at the stars.
shareI don't think he would have jumped. Even though she caught his attention, he didn't know her well enough to jump in after. I think he would just tell a guard that she was in the water. If they would have stopped and went back, is the real question.

Alerting a guard of her jumping gives the very slim chance that she can be rescued and survive.
If he jumped they would've just froze to death/drowned in the water and no one wouldve been wise to the fact that two people jumped ship.
