i think the op has a point, and it's not a bad one...
i mean, i am a little tired of people who bang on about woke messaging all the time too. it all seems a little obsessive and one-note, in the way certain posters only go on about that aspect of things.
but...
every white guy in this movie is a villain and deserving of death.
we're explicitly told so at the end - 'they all deserved it' i believe were the exact words, 'it' being murdered and condemned to suffering for eternity or something.
all the men in this movie are bad, with one exception, that being a black fashion student who isn't gay, but probably would be gay if he didn't have to awkwardly stand in as the lead girl's chaste love interest.
he's a damsel who has to be rescued by the stronger, more capable woman.
i understand this is the way things are.
every movie has to tell white men how horrible and irredeemable we are.
we deserve nothing but hatred and death, i guess.
i'm a little tired of getting beaten over the head by that message, myself. seems every bit as one note and didactic as the people who complain about wokeness all the time.
maybe it's just me, i dunno.

and of course , in this case , a film a about a lone female struggling in the big bad city is *bound* to have that kind of balance.
it's certainly not a new thing for me. i've noticed this messaging of open hatred for men for decades. but i think it's much more focused and pronounced now, and i absolutely notice it in all areas of life, not just movies and message boards and twitter, though i'd say twitter in particular is perhaps it's primary driver & conduit now.

shareNobody is tired of woke politics. Woke movies don't exist. Hollywood doesn't care about a political agenda, they want your money.
What I and many people are tired of, are people bitching about movies being woke. You literally can't go too posts without someone throwing a fit about some shallow race or gender swap nobody gives a wank about.
I just listened to the commentary for this movie and in it the producer/director/writers HILARIOUSLY state that they didn't want to paint an entire gender with a broad brush. No idea how they could possibly make *that* statement regarding *this* movie! JFC.
