what are Luther and Benji's jobs anyway?

Been watching Mission Impossible III and IV on Paramount yesterday and to me its like both of them do the same job so whats the point of having both of them on the team?

Luther fiddles around with security and computers. Same thing with Benji.

So how are they different?

They aren't. Ving left to do something else and they hired Simon to fill his role. Then Ving came back and both were so popular they just kept them both.

Their job is to sit around and assist Tom Cruise so he can look good.
