Disney destroys everything it touches.

reply

That was my read of the first episode.

reply

Alan Tudyk is returning as K2SO later in the series and will be hilarious as he was in Rogue One.

Stick around.

reply

Alan Turd lick is overrated.

reply

He's funnier than you.

Then again cancer is funnier than you.

Triggered man-babies! Most of us like it.

OP sounds like a troll but the thread title isn't exactly wrong.

No. This is NOT Star Wars.

reply

Blade Runner movies will never be popular because they suck. Keep that crap out of Star wars.

reply

Imdb: Blade Runner 760k votes, BR 2049 560k votes. Wrath of Khan 120k votes!

reply

Both Blade Runner movies flopped at the box office.

reply

Yeah because we all know box office cash=quality. Blade Runner is better than Star Wars is.

reply

Star Wars 1977 was Oscar nominated for Best Picture during Hollywood's second golden age, THAT does equal quality. You Blade Runner fans are just ignorant and silly.

reply

You realize how far Blade Runner's outreach is among many films? Countless film makers are influenced by it. It made the afi list of top 100 movies of all time. Oh would you look at that it made the same list that Star Wars did. Just because a movie does not do well in the box office does it mean it is a bad film. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI%27s_100_Years...100_Movies

I am not denying Star Wars being a quality film. Blade Runner is among the greats as well though, and in my opinion is better than Star Wars. You can think Star Wars is better is fine but to dismiss Blade Runner simply off of box office results is flat out ignorant. Blade Runner is considered one of the best films ever made.

reply

Not only did BR flop at the box office, it didn't get a Best Picture Oscar nomination and is so fundamentally flawed, there are SEVEN different versions attempting to fix it. Actual good movies get 1 directors cut. Nostalgia deludes you BR fans.

reply

Tons of great films do not get best picture nominations so that is a moot point. Empire Strikes Back is by the mass majority considered better than a new hope is. It did not receive a best picture nomination. The Good the Bad and The Ugly did not receive a best picture nomination neither did 2001 a Space Odyssey. I could list many more. Actual good movies get 1 directors cut? How many versions of Star Wars is there now? You just undercut your own argument. So by that logic Star Wars is not a good film either because there are many cuts of that film which Lucas the creator has made to improve the films. Also you claimed both Blade Runner movies to be bad. Blade Runner 2049 only has 1 cut so is by that logic it better than Star Wars?

reply

Lucas tinkering with his wildly successful trilogy to milk them for more money is not the same thing as recutting a flop movie that never had success.

reply

Lol oh so now we are moving the goal post I see. The movie did have success just not initially in the box office. There is a thing called becoming a cult classic. Sometimes movies may not be successful on release but become more appreciated over time. There is a reason it made the afi top 100 list. They determine many factors when they determine that list. It is voted on by over 1500 artists in the industry.

Some of the determining factors for the list are critical recognition, major award winner, popularity over time, historical significance, and cultural impact. Therefore clearly Blade Runner had success in some of those categories otherwise it would not have made the list. There is more to a film being considered great than box office or awards. Many other factors at play also. You may not like the film but dismissing it as a bad film simply because it did not fit into it being a box office hit or collecting all the awards is objectively wrong. Clearly it did have success in some way or as I stated before it would not be on the list. Also it influenced many film makers in the industry. You claiming it never had success was 100% wrong.

reply

You're twisting yourself into a pretzel. The first BR is so great that the sequel flopped, too, ending any argument about the quality of the first movie. Seethe and cope, fanboy.

reply

Nope I'm arguing facts which make your brain melt.

Box office doesn't determine quality. If that's the case the transformers films are great. Your education was free today. You have trash taste in cinema. Hit me up anytime you need more educating. I'm a patient teacher even for slow folks like you.

reply

Both Blade Runner movies are not popular and never will be. Seethe and cope, DOUCHE.

reply

Then why did they make the top 250 of imdb and make the top 100 afi list? Also popularity doesn't determine quality.

reply

IMDB votes are probably manipulated by bots. Elon Musk found out Twitter users are mostly bots.

reply

So now a conspiracy theory. I have a strong suspicion with that claim where you land and what news station you watch. Your conspiracy theory about IMDb is noted and dismissed. My pokt stands it's on the top 250.of IMDb which mean it's popular.

reply

Well you're naive' to think Twitter is the only website that can be manipulated by bots, DOUCHE.

reply

Never said that was impossible. However until you prove it on IMDb it is nothing more than a conspiracy theory from you. Therefore until it's proven it is dismissed.

reply

Why do you spend time arguing with idiots???

(Don't answer, I'm doing it myself :D )

reply

Your petty insult is noted and dismissed.

reply

Not sure you understood my message.

Now this one can be considered an insult by a sensitive mind ...

I am generalizing because you are one of the bigots on these boards. I was not talking to you, get off this board.

So you made your OP based on the trailer? That's trolling.

Imdb: Men in 20s rate it highest, followed by women in 30s. Teens don't use Imdb.

reply

Exactly. I enjoyed the three episodes and am looking forward to both seasons.

reply

if i had to chose between humorless, bleak and miserable and the cartoonish of The Book of Boba Fett I am choosing the former. They do need to strike a balance though.

reply

There's still humor in there, IMO thankfully used sparingly. Andor's droid has two or three funny lines.

I like it when Star Wars is serious. Not everything needs comedy jammed between somber moments (cough Marvel cough).

As for being bleak and miserable, I think it fits the places the show has visited so far. Maybe it will lighten up a bit when we got to Coruscant, maybe not, considering the Empire is in charge.

I also sensed a bit of a "Blade Runner" vibe to it, which I can't say I dislike.

reply

And that was the best part about it. Although through the ep 2 and 3 I kept thinking "they have those amazing bits of tech and they still are dirt poor, how the fuck does that make sense??" But if we look at our fucked up planet is kinda the same ...

It even made the emo droid more funny and sweet.

First episode gave me some serious KOTOR vibes.

reply

Looks Utterly Humorless, Bleak, and Miserable

I believe you , they filmed some bits of it in my home town ) )
