The worst MCU movie to date
Forget the woke agenda. This movie is long and overly complicated with sub-par acting. I found myself dozing off from time to time.

shareA lot of the actors sounded half asleep when saying their lines. In particular Chan and Madden. The little girl who played sprite was the standout, and Jolie was pretty good. Hayak seems to have forgotten how to act. Harrington was passable, but also low energy.
shareI agree, this is the worst MCU film. Still some solid action scenes, had some laughs and it's no doubt well directed. That screenplay though is a mess and I'm surprised Kevin Feige approved it to go into production. It's 157 minutes but wastes so much of it with needless filler that didn't really go anywhere, the pacing is terrible. I thought with so many new characters it'd justify the long running time but it really didn't utilize it at all.
I don't mind the lack of character development but a lot of the characters were a bit flat and lifeless which I think was due to the combination of the writing and the actors themselves.
Honestly I'm a huge MCU fan and don't think they've done a below average film until Eternals (yes even Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World I'd still say were average and better than this.) This wasn't really worth the price of a cinema ticket and I probably should have waited for it to drop on to Disney + at no extra charge.
Oh well, hopefully Spider-Man: No Way Home next month lives up to my hype, Shang-Chi was great as well so it's really about time a bad MCU movie came along.

There had to be one that was the worst. Marvel still made a lot of entertaining films and pleased the audience. I'm no fan, but I can see why it's hard to follow up to the Thanos story arch. That had a bunch of people juiced on the spectacle for years. Now, they're back to square one.
shareI feel like since Endgame they've really struggled to find their footing with these new characters and movies in general. It's even crazier to think that the heroes in Phases 1-3 weren't even the tip of the iceberg.
shareYes, having diverse characters was not the problem. This movie is a mess and LONG! The movie I saw before this one was "No Time To Die" which was also awful. Is it that challenging to create a decent film?
shareThey've been coasting on iconic characters and beloved actors. When breaking in obscure characters that most of the regular movie viewing audience has never heard of, and tapping into outlandish larger than premises with no grounding whatsoever in the real world, you really have to serve up some top notch story telling. And that's never been MCU's strength. They did it with Guardians, but that's more like they just sponsored a James Gunn movie. Even when done reasonably well, as was in Dune, you only get a passable movie. Favorable but nothing to get excited about.
