Star Wars fans sending racists attacks to Kenobi actress
Being reported on my local news , what a bunch of losers.
shareBeing reported on my local news , what a bunch of losers.
shareShe's a terrible actress but it's heartbreaking that some people are attacking her that way, that's definitely crossing the line.
shareAgreed shes a horrible actress playing an annoying character but theres no need for the racist BS.
sharei agree that she shouldnt be attacked for taking a job but if race didnt matter in this discussion then can you honestly say she didn't get cast for this because she was black? how can her cute face and terrible acting match this cartoonishly evil character?
shareEven if race matters (in this case Disney pushing their diversity quota) that doesn't excuse the vile racist attacks on this actress, there are other ways to talk about it.
shareDid they provide any evidence of these imaginary racists or are they just race baiting AGAIN?
shareThey're not Star Wars fans.
shareBeat me to it.
shareThey think they are!
This is why I've never been involved with the large-scale fandom, too many awful people are drawn to this franchise. Probably because they identify with Luke the male virgin, because they sure as hell don't understand what the good guys are fighting for.

Yup! They look at the heroes of this saga of humans fighting for justice and democratic governments, who value honor and self-sacrifice, and whose values are based on the connectedness of all living things and universal love, and they think...
"A male virgin gets superpowers and gets to kick ass! Awesome!". And then, when someone makes Star Wars content that isn't about a male virgin kicking ass, they throw tantrums.
Your TDS gets chronically. Go and find some help.
shareFor the life of me, I can't understand how Star Wars fans *could* be Trump supporters. That just baffles me.
My guess is these "fans" just paid attention to the lightsabers and spaceships and blasters, and the story went completely over their heads.
Many fans of Star Wars are Trump supporters because they don't like inflation, high energy prices, defunding the police, open borders and being the laughing stock in the international community
shareWe’ve seen it in this board.
shareReally? Please post a link cause all I've seen is people discussing her performance and poor writing.
shareYou also made this racist statement.

How is that racist if this is who she is playing?
shareIt’s racist to call her an inner city girl. You called her that because she is black.
You are a racist.
It’s racist to call her an inner city girl
Your gaslight is very dim. Just like your cognitive ability.
shareSomeone doesn't know what gaslighting is.
Calling someone "an inner city girl" is not racist and what i replied with isn't gaslighting.
You on the other hand obviously like insulting people
I absolutely know what gaslighting is and it's exactly what you're attempting by trying convince people you're not engaging in racism. Your euphemism is a racist stereotype.
shareHow is saying something that is not racist, "not racist" gaslighting?
The mental gymnastics you are doing is staggering.
Oh that person knows exactly what gaslighting is, hence why he’s accusing you exactly what his ilk are guilty of. He’s going for the gaslight-projection double-wammy combo.
We’ve called these people out on their bs enough times, and said the word enough times, that they probably think they’ll be protected if they start copying what we say or something 😄 Among other things, they lack self-awareness and originality.
Typical tactics of piece of shit bigots. Blowing the dog whistle by using euphemisms then feigning ignorance or straight up denying the reality of their intent. Cowards.
shareNo, I called her that because she plays her character as if she was a girl street gangster. Evidently that's all the actress is capable off.
Unlike almost every actor and actress of pretty much every race we have seen in the Mandalorian, the fist six SW movies and a few of the latest films\series.
No, I called her that because she plays her character as if she was a girl street gangster. Evidently that's all the actress is capable off.
Like her or not, the character she is playing is nothing at all similar to her in terms of personality. Anyone that doubts this should watch her interviews if they care to. If she had played her normal self they might have something to base this complaint on. I not sure where the gangster thing is coming from. Neither the actress nor the character I would characterize as "gangsterish".
shareAre there any proof whatsoever of this?
I saw the official Star Wars FB page announce something yesterday. I was surprised because I hadn't heard shit about this. Then I see articles like this:
https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/star-wars-defends-moses-ingram-racist-obi-wan-fans-1235281388/
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-wars-defends-moses-ingram-obi-wan-kenobi-attacks-1235156463/
But no examples. At all. I think 1 guy here kept referring to her as "the black actress" but that was about it.
There have been several posters attacking her here for race and gender.
shareI don't think she, the franchise, or the media is referring to moviechat.org. This supposedly is a little bigger that?
shareYou said: “one guy here”. I thought you were talking about the board. I stand corrected.
shareShe posted screenshots of DMs on her Instagram story.
shareSo why can't people post the on here then

And what's racist in those??
She is a diversity hire (and that's NOT a racist expression) and her acting sucks, blows, however you want to say.
Calling someone a diversity hire is racist. It’s meant to degrade her.
shareNope, not when it portrays reality.
Catwoman in the last Batman? Not a diversity hire, she was decent.
This lady in SW? The only reason she was hired was that she is black. Her acting is subpar. Saying that she is a diversity hire degrades her and only her, not her race. And it doesn't even degrades her, it puts her where her is place, AND NOT BECAUSE OF HER RACE, but because she is god damn awful.
Nope, it is definitely racist. You don’t know if she was hired because of race and gender.
And you are a racist for believing that.
It doesn't assign bad connotation to her race (that would be racism) but to her personal skills (or lack of skills thereof).
Do you also think it's misogynistic to say "she doesn't have any skill but she was hired because she was fucking the boss"?
We do know that Disney has racial and diversity quotas for movies/shows. And when we see how bad she is in the role there is no other explanation.
There are plenty of black actors (generally speaking) that have the skills and are NOT "diversity hires" but were hired for the role based on merit.
"And you are a racist for believing that."
Thanks for proving my point, you leftists throw words around when you have no arguments, it is so much easier.
Calling someone a diversity hire is clearly a shot at her race and sex. The other one is not, but that one definitely is.
shareDisagree, It's a shot at her being a bad actress.
It doesn't assign bad connotation to her race (that would be racism) but to her personal skills (or lack of skills).
Do you also think it's misogynistic to say "she doesn't have any skill but she was hired because she was fucking the boss"?
If a person wanted to take a shot at her being a bad actress, then a person would just say that she's a bad actress. Calling her a diversity hire is just a presumption, one that highlights her race for no reason.
You can find plenty of poor hires in films. But obviously you'd only dismiss it as a diversity hire if the hire was a racial minority. Can't be a diversity hire if the person's the majority.
But that means you'd be mindlessly going "diversity hire" vs "bad hire" depending on the actor's race. It's superficial and racially charged.
It might be misogynistic if you accuse a woman of being "hired because she was fucking the boss" without any proof. But not necessarily. Because maybe you'd say the same thing about a man too. Both are still superficial analyses, but they're not necessarily sexually charged.
"Calling her a diversity hire is just a presumption, one that highlights her race for no reason."
Nope, it highlight her race because that was the reason she was hire, not her performance.
"But that means you'd be mindlessly going "diversity hire" vs "bad hire" depending on the actor's race. It's superficial and racially charged."
Again, no, when that was the obvious reason for her hire.
" But not necessarily." you start to understand.
As an example: when someone is admitted to an university regardless of the bad scores but as a result of "affirmative action" would you say that the expression "he was an affirmative action student" is racist? I hope not. It's the same here. You might (and I would) call the "affirmative action" and "diversity hires" as practices being racist, but acknowledging the situation is NOT racist.
you guys throw the word "racist" too easy and without any logic. Even if some expression MIGHT be racially charged that doesn't necessarily mean that it's racist ...
https://dictionary.reverso.net/english-definition/racially+charged
But I know how you leftists LOVE to change word definitions to match your narrative ...
Saying: "you're bad at this, you were hired only because you are - insert reason here" is an attack on your skills, on you being bad.
And what is funny that you guys FAIL to understand: "diversity hires" and "affirmative actions" ARE discriminatory and racist practices, but you will never accept that.
I'm a racist. Who do you need me to kill? Us Star Wars fans are all godless killing machines.
shareThat’s what they’re claiming at least. They sure do love their racist bogeymen 😆
shareI doubt those attacks were racist. Most likely they make legitimate critique (like how miscast she was and how much her acting sucks and most likely she only hired to fill a check mark) as being racist because that's the easiest "defense".
