So they gave 3 rings to elves

7 to dwarves and 9 to humans and sauron said something about the power of 3???

How is 7 related to 3????

And don't even make me start about dwarves and "we are not sun's slaves" speech ...

reply

They aren't. They're just rings that give special powers to each race, but would all be controlled by Sauron with his one ring to rule them all.

3 was just for the elves (Círdan, Galadriel, Gil-Galad); 7 for the dwarven kings (Durin's folk, Firebeards, Broadbeams, Ironfists, Stiffbeards, Blacklocks, and Stonefoots); 9 for leaders of men.

Can you read? I know all that, what state the obvious when it doesn’t address the question?

I asked why did Sauron said about the number of rings “the power of 3”?

reply

He was a big fan of Charmed?

reply

I think he might meant 3: humans, elves, dwarves

reply

This entire show is written by people who think they can write Tolkien better than the man himself.

In the actual lore, the Three were created by Celebrimbor alone; Sauron didn't even know they existed until he created and put on the One.

reply

True.

I was asking more about numerology, as in having multiples of 3. 7 is NOT a multiple of 3.

reply

I think it's at least implied that the 3 contained mithrill unlike the rest, so they can still be used by the elves to their advantage.

reply

I don't remember the exact conversation, but maybe he was just saying something about the power of the three elven rings in general, and not that when you made magic rings, they had to be in multiples of 3.

reply

Maybe he (or the writers) meant the power of the three groups of rings. Elves, Dwarves, Humans. Otherwise I cannot make sense of it.

I havent even watched this show. But curiously looked on here.

reply

Don't bother it's an an abomination.
