I haven't seen anything about a global nuclear winter in relation to this asteroid. In a scenario like you mentioned in Hawaii, they'll likely have years to evacuate. But the tsunami could cause a big disaster comparable to the 2004 event.
That asteroid is a city killer not a planet killer. Since the earth is mostly covered in water chances are pretty good it hits an ocean (could cause a tsunami). It's definitely something to track & we'll know exactly where it's going to hit prob years before it does.
From what I remember he didn't refuse, he hesitated bc he was scared dt racism, but then did shake his hand. Then he went on to suggest they do "White Jeopardy" some time.
