Call it like it is
I think about it and this shit has no sense is a MTF mermaid why someone, anyone (besides little girls), would give a F*** about this character? People talking about beloved character that have an iconic appearance that's BS no one like it when a remake is a copy frame by frame of the original the main criticism against Pinocchio is that most character looks the same ¿If this was a blonde version, people would complain about the change? I don't think so, in most cases this is a bunch of adult people pretending they give a rat ass about a character of a kid movie that even was very good in the first place, the original wasn't Pinocchio or Snow white or Lion King was a meh animated movie at most, so why adult dudes are so angry about the change, if it is not racism disguise as something else?
I understand people are tired of the politic in the entertaining industry people don't want to be indoctrinated when are watching a movie I get that, but this is ridiculous this is like people complaining about catwoman being black when catwoman have being played by a black actress not once but twice in the past
Every adaptation bring something different in this case is the race of a mermaid in the next adaptation (and knowing Disney you can bet your ass is going to be more adaptations) maybe the mermaid is going to be blonde and Ursula wouldn't be the main antagonist if not another made up character, some adaptations bring good changes that people like a become part of the mythos of the story and the character others are totally irrelevant and people forget about them like the Schumacher adaptations vs the Nolan adaptations of Batman.
This is just a new version of a known story, nothing more, this is not Troy this is not a black dude as Julio Cesar or a black actress as Anne Boleyn or a black dude as Louis on Interview with the vampire, the race is not relevant for a mermaid.
And for all the boomers dudes over here complaining about their childhood being raped because the race of a fictional mermaid was changed ¿did you really watched this shit when you were a kid? And liked so much that the character become something important to you, to the point your ass hitch if someone dare to change something about it in an NEW adaptation? Because that sound homo as f*** ¿why dint you asked your parents to take you to watch TMNT, BTTF or something less gay?
You must look like those forty-something old dudes who collect barbie dolls and weird homo shit like that.
