Who is your ideal choice for Ariel?

Anne Hathaway may have been a good fit but some would probably say she is too old now.

Hard to say. She would have to resemble a teenager, though probably an actress in her late teens, early 20s, and have light skin and a pretty, youthful-looking face. The red hair and blue eyes can be added on if she doesn't have them naturally. There are several actresses that could fill this role, but there are a lot of factors involved, such as: interest, availability, and the ability to deliver the character of Ariel. That's not easy to do. While it's not difficult for some actresses to deliver the "rebellious, feisty teenager" vibe, there's a balance to it with Ariel. She has to not sound like a total, irredeemable brat. Ariel had faults, but she also did care about her friends and had a heart.

The worst thing they could do was hire another bored, stupid feminist like Emma Watson and have her reciting lines while waiting for the project to be over. We don't need another repeat of the live-action "Beauty and the Beast" crap-fest.

Isla Fisher would have been ideal.

I'd go with Georgie Henley.
