I think it would have been a refreshing take for cinema audiences to see a more diverse relationship on screen, such as that between a white (Super)man and a black women.
We rarely see this portrayed and it would have been nice to see a more bold casting choice for Superman to go beyond the already done race swapping of Perry White...
Warner Bros is not Disney, they don't have as much money to lose like that.
Its share price dropped from the high of $77 in 2021 to about $10 today, while the overall sharemarkets have been booming. And they have been losing money for 2 straight years.
Disney however is still profitable.
Unlike Disney, Warner Bros chair and CEO both have been replaced in the past 2 years.
There is still going to be diversity casting, like a black Perry White (as always, ironic, isn't it? But there is Barry White, so I guess it is not uncommon), and Latino hawk girl, but not something as controversial as a black Lois Lane.
Go woke and go broke is no joke, at least not for Warner Bros.
Shiera and Shayera Hol were the first two Hawkgirl/women characters. Then came Kendra Saunders, who has ALWAYS been Hispanic. Or Latino, or whatever the current acceptable lingo is (shrug). Point is: you (unsurprisingly) don't know what you're talking about. Hawkgirl's been "Latino" for the past Twenty Five Years.
Conclusion: the bleating about "diversity/woke" is often a knee-jerk, absurd reaction to anything that's not straight, male, and white.
I HATE race-swapping in CBMs, because I'm a purist: just put the version of the comic I grew up with on the screen, please. It's NOT HARD: the source material is literally a collection of storyboards. But it's clear that this is Not what most of the idiots bleating about these things are triggered by. Because NONE of them complained when Angelina Jolie played The Fox; and I happen to know for a fact that Halle Berry was available. #Period
I'm not interested in changing your "thesis." I was bored, so simply pointed out your incorrect statement. Then added a couple amplifying facts explaining the contextual assumptions, stupidity and hypocrisy, then went about my day. Not bored any more, so. . .done w/this conversation. Shrug.
Doesn't really make much sense as, like I said, Perry White is usually swapped so swapping Lois instead and making Perry White white is hardly white hating...
Besides I wasn't endorsing Michael B Jordan for Superman himself was I, so no reason to get so excited. Just looking for something refreshing for the franchise and cinema goers.
Shouldn't Lois Lane Really Have Been Black In This One?

Zoe Saldana was considered for Lois in MoS which actually probably would've been better casting than Amy Adams , but obviously she probably wouldn't have been in Guardians after
