Try not to judge me lol but I could not get in to this film at all.
Annoying kids, uninteresting people....
I gave up after about 40 minutes.
Does this film pick up after that or is it safe to say the film is not for me?
If you couldn't sit through the whole thing, this may not be the perfect film for you.

shareI saw this on the big screen which I think helps me get through films I might otherwise find boring watching them at home. You’re more immersed, you just paid $10, you’re watching (usually) with other people. The colors really jumped out to me and the framing of shots etc. And I’ve seen a lot of bad child acting these kids were too notch stellar believable to me. Usually I hate child actors they make me cringe. It’s not for everyone. And it may just depend on your experience that day.

shareI made it about as far as you did. The brats or aptly named little bastards really turned me off. That and the whirlybirds passing every few minutes made for a rotten experience. And what was the project exactly? To see how long they could annoy the viewers?

I haven't liked too many 2017 releases that were critically acclaimed, but I really liked this one very much. It just shows a slice of life in Orlando behind the "wholesomeness" of what they are trying to create there. Kind of reminds me when I stayed with a friend's family in the seamier side of Palm Springs, CA, which was totally unexpected.
But without trying to judge, if you gave it 40 minutes and didn't like it, then it probably didn't make sense to continue hanging in there.
I wouldn't normally shut off a film after 40 minutes....But I got the impression it was just a "slice of life" like you said, but unfortunately for me, this "slice of life" just wasn't very interesting.

This was one of my favorite films of the year. It was beautifully shot and beautifully raw.
To each their own I suppose.
Surely you can understand how someone might not like a film that quite literally has no story line nor any interesting scenes or dialogue?
Sure, it was very well shot but a lot of people, like myself would prefer their films to have some kind of story to follow.
I can honestly tell you that my own life is more interesting that the lives of the people in this film.
Thats why I said to each their own..
Stick to IT and your Marvel movies.

you are entitled to your preferences. if you don't dig it, you don't dig it. i loved it myself, and ranked it as my favourite film of last year. as a lot of people have commented, i think it's actually a wonderful update of french new wave, has the same feel of the 400 blows. and it also has the same artifice-free feel of some of asghar farhadi's films, in the way you feel your watching real people dealing with miserable circumstances. i love it when films put me into a world where i feel like i am watching true lives unfold with no forced melodrama or bombast, and i think this is one of the best examples of that i've seen.
I agree that it’s reminiscent of “400 Blows” and that type of picture. I don’t know if I’m the only one who is somewhat lukewarm on that style, or if people like me just don’t bother to weigh in.
When I say “lukewarm”, I do mean that as a mildly positive review. I’m not unhappy to have watched these films, and I think they have merit both artistically and educationally. But I do have trouble understanding how people can be rapturous over them.
