Not just being unrealistic but the fact that it's more a feminist wet dream than anything else. I can't stand it every time a woman tries to compete in a man's sport that they will never have a chance in. Major League Baseball, National Football League, men's tennis, men's golf when are women just going to give it up because all they do it for is publicity and a feminist wet dream. this woman that's portraying a major league pitcher is tiny petite ,so blatantly obvious that she's throwing it about 30 miles an hour. If you were going to do something this ridiculous at least get somebody out there that's a female bodybuilder maybe can act her way out of a paper bag.
So I've read a few comments here, questioning how real it is for a woman to pitch in MLB. Question: What do you say to yourself when a scientist gets angry and turns into a green rage monster in a movie, or a Norse god shows up, or even a zombie apocalypse happens? Repeat after me "It's only a TV show. It's only a TV show". As for her pitches not looking that fast, its called acting. I'm told Sir Laurence Olivier, when playing Henry V, only pretended to slaughter French knights. That's called acting too. It needs a little suspension of belief.
Bunbury, has athleticism in her blood. As the daughter of retired Canadian pro soccer player Alex Bunbury, she was someone for whom sports were a way of life. She has played soccer in school. And she is 5'8" and 131 as of 2014. She has been training 4 days a week since accepting this role. So I imagine her weight has gone up. Plus she probably throws accurately at 55mph or so. If your going to make a statement get your facts straight. You are a joke , an insult to IMDB. And lighten up its just TV after all. Plus I'm not serious either about you being a joke. It's just IMDB Message boards after all! Also You think Arnold Schwarzenegger could pitch 30 years ago? I can't recall any successful bodybuilder pitchers either! Successful the key word here.
How many male tennis players do you think couldn't beat the Williams sisters? And how many can't. Danica Patrick while not the top driver in NASCAR is on a regular basis better than 40% of the field. How many racers have never won a race in IndyCar? Danica has. Michelle Wei has competed with the boys in golf. What we have here is women are making their way into men's sports. Locally here in Denver Colorado a girl was a kicker and high school football team. It isn't a question of it being a joke. It is a dream that is the dreamed of by all girls that choose to do so. So who are we could say that this is a joke or an insult. It's not a question of them being part of the game we should be talking about here, it should be when will it happen. In some sports it already has happened. It won't be long before they are at the top of the game. Remember the same thing was said in 1947 about Jackie Robinson. There was all sorts of rhetoric that mirrors your same comment. It would be an insult to MLB if they didn't consider the probability that this will happen someday. And MLB is heavily involved in the production of this program which shows their forward thinking.
I'm a 61-year-old pasty white male. While I never was into athletics, I have been in competitive racing on a national level in the National Hot Rod Association. I am an underdog. I raced in Stock eliminator for 30 years. Won as many rounds as I lost. To give you reference I was the Milwaukee Brewers up against the Yankees at every race. I raced on a budget just like the Brewers play on a budget. I dreamed of winning. But never once did anyone say I was a joke or an insult to the NHRA, just because I was a Milwaukee Brewers which by the way looks just as professional as the Yankees, even though they didn't spend as much money, as did I. I respected the NHRA. And the organization and other competitors respected me. Now because I was the underdog I love the underdog. I pulled for the 1967 Red Sox, the Cubs, even my own beloved Broncos and Rockies. I want the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl badly. I also rooted for Janet Guthrie, When I was a little boy. Your statement is in such bad taste that you should do the responsible thing and do what any thinking feeling person would do remove your post. You know like we see every so often "deleted by author". You don't have to. I don't know if you have daughters or sons for that matter. But no dream is joke or an insult!
Involvement, yeah--in a desperate attempt to boost ticket sales they do what everyone is doing in 2016... attacking men and hoping a bunch of butch FemiNazis will jump on board and give them the approval they desperately need.
You're welcome. I always hate it when the mouth is in gear and you drop the clutch and the brain stalls out! His brain obviously has over 250,000 on the odo. And its a 57 Studebaker Taxi from New York City with lots of rust! Do they make Gumout for the Brain? This guy is Trump and Clinton rolled up into one! He needs to sell Girl Scout Cookies in a dress in Iran. The lights are on but he's not home! You have a great day!!!!
What a joke , an insult to MLB. Amen. Involvement, yeah--in a desperate attempt to boost ticket sales they do what everyone is doing in 2016... attacking men and hoping a bunch of butch feminazis will jump on board and give them the approval they desperately need.
The show acknowledges Ginny's biological disadvantages. The entire reason she learned how to throw a screwball was to make up for her lack of throwing power. What's unrealistic is that she'd be allowed to wear a number that's been retired throughout the league. I mean, Jackie Robinson's number? Really? They didn't show Ginny getting death threats. Her adversity isn't anywhere close to what Jackie had to deal with. The OP's attitude is exactly the kind of thing Ginny's depicting having to overcome every single episode.
Besides, why would they need to cast someone who looks like a female bodybuilder? Have you seen how wiry a lot of Major League pitchers are? Why do you think pitchers ice their shoulders? It's because that's where the strength comes from.

Jackie Robinson's retired number is 42. They made a point in the pilot that the team is giving Ginny number 43 - one higher than Jackie Robinson.
