Why do people hate movies that show empowered women?

In response to Elizabeth Banks' recent comments to say the least:

“Look, people have to buy tickets to this movie, too. This movie has to make money,” she said. “If this movie doesn’t make money it reinforces a stereotype in Hollywood that men don’t go see women do action movies.”

Charlie's Angels 2000 and 2003 made half a billion between them.

"They’ll go and see a comic book movie with Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel because that’s a male genre,”

So why make another version of Charlie's Angels which was created by two men and produced by Aaron Spelling?

“So even though those are movies about women, they put them in the context of feeding the larger comic book world, so it’s all about, yes, you’re watching a Wonder Woman movie but we’re setting up three other characters or we’re setting up ‘Justice League.’”

Justice League was critically panned and made less money than the far better reviewed Wonder Woman.

"By the way, I’m happy for those characters to have box office success,” Banks adds, “but we need more women’s voices supported with money because that’s the power. The power is in the money.”

Or maybe a better writer and director.

“You’ve had 37 Spider-Man movies and you’re not complaining!” Banks said

Spider-Man is profitable..

“My real plea is for men to have enough empathy to go watch a movie starring women”.

They did. But she dismissed those movies as being in the "male genre" even though Wonder Woman was directed by a woman, and Captain Marvel was co written and directed by women.

Hopefully this and dark fate are finaly a wake up call that this shit doesn't sell no matter if your a man or woman or to be honest these days everything in between.

Nobody wants to see the movie just because the movie is bad, not because it stars women.

Was John Carter an empowered women movie? Was Lone Ranger an empowered women movie? Was The BFG an empowered women movie? Was The Good Dinosaur an empowered women movie?

The reason that those bad movies flopped is because the movies were bad. Not because women this or men that. This is so simple, really.

I just don't understand why it is SOOO difficult for people to admit these truths? NOOOooooo, gotta hide it in some political correct gender whatever protest of the minute crap.
How about nobody cared, nobody wanted this, and it looked awful?

Race or gender really doesn't matter it's the script that matters.

None of the lead actresses are huge draws at the box office and I don't think they're interesting enough.

I think men would be fine with it if it wasn't ham fisted and badly written. I'm not even sure who this film was written for. Not me. A woman.
If you want to empower women they have to earn it just like anyone else. Case in point would be something like Rey from Star Wars who didn't need to train like Luke Skywalker. She automatically knew how to do everything. It wasn't a natural progression so it wasn't organic.

I never saw any problems with Ripley or Sarah Connors (before the franchise went haywire) or Wonder Woman or dozens of others that were more subtle about empowerment and made it an interesting evolving of the characters that made sense..
And it doesn't have to be with the exclusion of men or necessary to belittle or vilify them to empower women. Why would men enjoy that and why would most women?
I like strong women but I like strong men too.
It isn't necessary to be prejudice against or exclude one group to elevate another.

All a film needs is to be well acted and well written without an agenda. These days looking for a film without agenda is like scanning for pearls in the desert.
And it's boring.

The Alien movies, both Terminator movies, the zillion Resident Evil movies, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman ...

Yeah, it's not a woman thing, it's a looks-like-rubbish thing.

I like movies with characters who have flaws, get knocked down, and then need to overcome obstacles in a character arc.

These feminist wet dream movies have characters who are flawless...thus making them boring, uninteresting, and it actually makes me root against them. They are already perfect at everything, they're arrogant, and it's just no fun to watch them.

That goes for male and female characters. Even when Stallone and Schwarzenegger were in their prime kicking a ton of ass...the characters they played usually took a beating at some point and had to overcome a lot of shit.

And hey, Elizabeth Banks, if I don't want to go see a movie, I'm not going to see it. I don't give a shit if you try to guilt trip an entire gender into feeling like they should go to see it, even though you made it clear early on that the movie wasn't made for men.

The biggest problem with the movie is star power. Kristen Stewart without Twilight isn’t a draw. The other two aren’t big names either. FvsF had Bale and Damon both who have leading roles in big movies. It looks like those that did see CA did like it so.
