1. If Adam Driver wasn't one of the leads. There something about him that takes me out of every movie of his I've seen. Is it his face that I can't stand looking at, or his one-note personality that's in every role he plays? It's both, probably. I don't understand why he keeps getting roles in major movies.

2. If their weren't so much repetition in the three versions, with only a few changes in each.

Tongue in cheek comment: It's a hell of a way to treat a woman, burning her ceremoniously, for all to watch, if her husband loses the duel. Yeah, I know, 14th century, with all their unscientific beliefs grounded in superstition and God's justice. Still.

Agree on the three points of view being too long. I believe they should have only shown the Sir Jean point of view and left out the rape scene altogether. That way just like in real life the truth remains unknown.

True. The third one was Margueritte's version. It might or might not be the truth. Just like the real life version of the story, nobody actually knew.

I was ok with those things, they did mercifully abbreviate the last "chapter" but it might have been helped by some trimming down. I just think the dreary lighting/filters were a waste of the cinematography. It would have been so much more impactful and "real" with more realistic lighting. I never understood the need for the whole middle ages greying out of things. Grass was still green, the sky was still blue, and they genuinely used a lot more color. The only thing that really needs to be dimmed out is anything indoors especially at night. Other than that why not just be a bit more honest?

Yeah. The film makers obviously know that back in the Middle Ages everything actually DID look like the inside of an ash tray. The sun was not as powerful then and everything was dim and dingy and grey. I mean, where the heck do you think the term "Dark Ages" comes from? DUH!

Just like in the American West everything looked yellow-brown like seeing through a puddle of pee and in WW2 everything was kind of pale grey. Drab filters are an absolute necessity if you want to achieve historical accuracy. Hollywood KNOWS about this stuff and you don't.

Imagine, someone so ignorant that they think colors looked the same in the past as they do now. Wow. Just wow.

Nobody said anything about the weather. unsansesarah, who I was agreeing with, was complaining about the lighting and filters. It doesn't look like a real Europe, even in winter. ALL the colors are pale and washed out, not just those affected by the weak winter sun.

Adam Driver and Adrien Brody are the two most pathetic looking dudes to ever be cast in lead roles. In any earlier era they would be restricted to character roles; storekeepers, accountants, village idiots, etc. It's only now in modern Clown World when masculinity is considered bad that they can succeed as leading men. Earlier audiences would laugh their asses off if they saw Driver or Brody playing a tough guy leading man.

Adrien Brody? Man, dude was famous for like 1 second, everybody forgot who he was the moment he took his Oscar. I mean really, name a single good performance of his. And even The Pianist isn't that good.

Not really a problem, but America's white culture is heavily INBRED and Adam's features reflect that.

Driver reminds me of Keanu Reeves. To some degree, they even look alike. I can't really decide who's the better actor though, I'll just go with Driver.

Repetition did get a little tedious too. But overall, I thought it was a good movie.

My first exposure to Driver was in Star Wars, and I didn't think he was right for that role. Since then, I've seen him in a few other roles, I think I agree. There's something about the guy. I think his acting is dry. He's not that good.
