Did you like the ending?
Just curious. It seemed kind of rushed but I liked it.
shareIt was ok. I think they did the best they could with the story arc, after unexpectedly losing Costner.
IMO....it would have been much more satisfying if Jaimie won that battle with Beth...even if he didn't kill her.
I think he got shit on his whole life, and Beth is a nasty, awful person. I hate that she ultimately took him out. It would have been great to see him give back to her a healthy dose of what she always did to him.
Agree all points.
I did and I didn't.
*Spoilers*
While I don't like Beth's character, I did feel for her when she was crying over John's coffin. I do feel bad that she feels guilty for her mother's death, and that she can never have her own kids, but that doesn't absolve her of the bad stuff she's done. I wish Jamie would've turned Sarah in, before she was murdered.
I was sort of hoping that Jamie and Beth would make peace someday, but that didn't happen. I don't like these characters, but I was hoping they would redeem themselves. I wish all of them would, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. I never knew whether to root for any of the characters on the show or against them.
Good series overall, though.
I do feel bad that [Beth] feels guilty for her mother's death, and that she can never have her own kids, but that doesn't absolve her of the bad stuff she's done.
I mean he did beat the shit out of her really good before she killed him, punched her like 6 or 7 times, kneed her in the face, kicked her in the face, broke her ribs, fucked up her lung, and strangled her for a good 6 or 7 seconds. They definitely made it more of a one sided fight with Jamie getting the best of her until Rip showed up, which i appreciate.
She was kinda half dead when she was being put in the ambulance, so i'd say he gave her a big dose of her own medicine before he died.
Beth needed the beating to back up her story that Jamie tried to kill he when she "confronted him about not going to the funeral". That severe beating Jamie gave her was a trade-off Beth was willing (and needed) to take in order to personally kill Jamie and get away with it, so on that one point anyway, she got what she wanted.
Beth is a terribly written character that wouldn't exist in real life and have everyone around her pretend like she isn't some horrible cunt. Rip would NEVER be interested in someone with her personality. The entire show has been shit writting for the last 3 seasons. Glorified soap opera in a beautiful setting. Nothing more. The first 2 seasons were fantastic, but this show jumped the shark a long time ago.
shareI agree with much of what you said, though I still really enjoyed the entire series.
(Never bothered with the spinoffs).
It was an interesting genre. Sort of like Dallas (the TV show) was, back in the 80's, but even more ambitious, hard hitting and beautifully set. It's definitely an ego-driven vanity project by Ty Sheridan...but also kind of a cool love-letter to the fading ways of the cowboy/rancher, and the world they live in.
my buddy likes the prequel spinoffs more than the main series, but I haven't watched them yet.
shareMEH. I would have preferred Beth and Jamie both getting their karma or both walking away licking their wound's to fight another day. But Jamie getting the shaft and Beth walking away scot-free to a happy ending with Rip just felt wrong. I'm very curious to know what the original end game plan was before Costner left.
