All the posts I've seen so far talk about how the crowd was clapping and the theatre was packed, I saw it and there were 4 people in the theatre including myself. I think it made it a lot more immersive and suspenseful because I almost felt alone, but was anyone else not in a crowded screening?
I think you and me are the only two people. I saw it with one other person in a huge theatre with like 3 people in it. I don't know if it made it scarier(to me it wasn't scary) but I really don't get the whole, "People started standing up and clapping when X happened!!!??!?!!?" Like, at what point in the movie did anything happen where there needed to be an applause? So ridiculous. I've seen hundreds of movies, in different theaters, and even a couple different countries and I've never heard this stuff people talk about on IMDB about people going crazy or clapping during a movie.

A whole row of people stood up, cheered, and clapped during a pivotal scene near the end of God's Not Dead (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2528814/). I mean, I'm fairly sure they were some church group, but still, they did it! reply share
My theater wasn't full, it wasn't empty but it sure wasn't packed. No one stood up at any point aside from leaving at the end of the movie. For my particular situation it was just an "okay" flick with a lot of plot holes that were obvious. I don't look for stuff like that in movies, typically I try to just enjoy them but this one had a few that I found glaring. Even somethings that wouldn't be considered plot holes just things that were done poorly imho. Just a very average movie.
I've baited my hook with my own underwear. Is it wrong that I hope to catch a fish I can relate to?-Ragdoll.
I work a double-shift on Saturday, and have a 3-hour break from 12-3. So I looked at the runtime which was 1:29 which gave me plenty of time to make a 12:45 show and leave from there to go back to work. There were only about 5 other people there, and fortunately it was stadium seating and I had the entire back row (center) to myself.
Being an empty theater verse a crowded theater makes a huge difference in the experience to me. By yourself, you can relax more as if you were watching it in your leaving room, check your phone if need be without anyone else seeing your screen, put your legs on the seat in front of you, and have an easy pathway to leave for a bathroom/concession break.
Make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

Even if there's no-one else there, why can't you just turn your phone off for 90 minutes of your life so as not to break the immersion of a tense thriller like this movie?
Is checking facebook statuses really that important to you?

Darcyyscales I think just about every movie I've gone to see has been in an empty cinema. Sometimes it's just been 2 or 3 of us and we often wonder if the movie plays if nobody buys tickets to it. Looking forward to seeing this one, love my horror movies but unfortunately nothing scares me any more. Still it's fun to go.
I hate seeing a movie in a crowded theater. Typically wait about 2 weeks before seeing something. Simply couldn't wait to see this one though, Jane Levy is an amazing actress.
There were maybe seven other people in the theater I went to. Naturally, one couple were quietly not shutting the *beep* up until the thieves got the the house.
Well hopefully directors will get away from just the just cast white trash story line hope the audience feels something for them. She would have been great in this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drbK4gwCUSE
there is nothing wrong with someone correcting you, it is for your own good... if you are offended by someone HELPING YOU, then you are a very sad excuse of human life.
There were only three people in the theater including myself. Me and two of my cousins. I liked it a lot, but I usually tend to get immersed in a movie when there aren't many people. I've seen to many dumb-ass' in theater's who ruin the experience for me.
I saw it in a fairly large theater that was mostly empty but for this particular movie, I wouldn't have preferred it any other way. There are many scenes where the main characters were trying to be absolutely silent while the blind man searched for them. My fellow theater goers and I remained silent as a bunch of mice and this worked out well in maintaining the level of suspense that the movie was trying to convey.
