How does Tom Cruise keep finding work?

Thats it, how? I just dont get it. He is plain terrible. Ranks right up there with Nicholas Cage. Same character, different movie!

reply

He's still, by far, the biggest star in the world...

reply

Because he's fit and hardworking in his own stunts!

I don't agree with the premise of the question. There's plenty of reasons why he keeps getting work. The better question is, when will he start acting his age? He should be playing supporting roles at this point. Or leading roles in which the character he plays does actually qualify for AARP and therefore is capable only of what a senior citizen is capable of physically.

reply

There was a funny moment in the movie, when Russell Crowe (who has an age-appropriate role) says to Tom Cruise "You are a young man". Funny part is that Tom is two years older than Crowe.

But someone who doesn't know that wouldn't be able to tell. Tom Cruise does look much younger than his biological age and therefore I see no problem for him to play younger men in movies, as long as it looks believable (and it still does).

He's not up there with Nicholas Cage. Poor Cage can barely even find a film that actually plays in movie theaters anymore while Cruise is still in top physical shape and still kind of a draw. And every once in a while he'll hit pay dirt on a good movie like Mission Impossible Rogue Nation or Edge of Tomorrow.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/rrT_CyvSp5c

I think it's kind of a shame the way Nicolas Cage's career has declined. He's actually talented and has done some pretty good movies. I hope things turn up for him.

reply

Right now with payments he has to keep he'll take any script. He has to settle that first.

reply

Oh he's definitely talented. All you have to do is look at the work he did during the 80's and 90's to see that. But once he went bankrupt or something it's been a really horrible decline. I can't believe one person who was making really good money as an actor could just suddenly be put in a gigantic financial hole.

Honestly I think it's just popular to hate Tom Cruise no matter what he does. I mean sure the guy's a nutter in real life but people ought to be able to put that aside. He's done some great stuff. He was excellent in Valkyrie and The Last Samurai. I do think he felt a bit out of place in The Mummy but he wasn't bad.

reply

he's the biggest movie star in the world... and is incredibly charismatic and engagging in the right movies...

His Mission Impossible has even eclipsed James Bond... just think about that... he didnt need a superhero costume, or cgi dragons and gnomes, etc... an actual, non-cartoon, non-emo, non-depressed, non-self loathing action hero... literally the only game in town... a man in an age of children and emasculated boymen...

and when he plays a creep, almost no one can touch him... collateral, edge of tomorrow... solid

"Ranks right up there with Nicholas Cage."

You mean in that they're both excellent actors? I agree.
