Am I the only person that loved this movie?

Seriously, I thought it was great. Who cares if it's not realistic, who cares if it has a couple little plot holes here and there? It's an amazing movie with a tremendous use of visual effects. What's with people these days immediately hating a movie just because the movie portrays a sequence of events that are unlikely to happen? I swear you must all be a boring bunch of people. I see comments like "What a piece of *beep* that could never happen!" and I'm just like... that's the point. If people only filmed *beep* that's going to happen we wouldn't have half the great movies we have today.

I had an awesome argument prepared when I started this subject, but forgot it before I started typing :/. You get the point though.

I thought it was great movie too. Very entertaining.

I agree with you. I Really liked this movie. Shakespeare? it ain't. but it succeeded in being thoroughly entertaining (which is more than I can say about many a critically acclaimed - i.e. snooze fest films).

the action was good. The adrenaline pumped. Guns were fired. Fights happened, things blew up. sounds like a recipe for fun.

if you're looking for UBER realism, or a superbly constructed social commentary. Then maybe this film isn't up your alley.

I'm sure there are plenty of thought provoking threads you can come up with.

Is the hero in this film really any better than the baddies? He kills with out conscience, remorse or regret. Why? Because the bad guys did bad things. The bad guys did awful things & kill numerous people because they felt the US is responsible for numerous atrocities to their country. There you go.. debate away.

****** SPOILER ALERT*******

about the only thing I didn't enjoy about the movie was that they didn't kill the Madame Secretary (she if the infinitely annoying voice & screaming). Where is the justice? LOL can you believe she's only 1 yr older than Dylan McDermott?

I agree it was a great film, problem is people think since they can go online and find things out with a click of the mouse they are smarter than the writer, its an action film and just like any action film it has plot holes and whatnot. I just wanna sit back and enjoy, I can care less if its realistic or not. If a guy jumping out of a highrise when its blowing up and not breaking his back when he is snagged on the firehose are people's idea of a realism, they have no right to crucify this film

NOTE I do love Die Hard, but COME ON, my back would have been broken at that point in the film

reply

Absolutely. I fell over onto a carpeted floor & it hurt like a son of a gun. so I'd have to imagine if I fell 4 stories with a fire hose tied around my waist, then it's snap city.

Great Movie though. Ho Ho HO..........Now I have a machine gun.

very realistic that someone would take the time to write that down on someone's shirt before they send them down the elevator.

reply

yea whenever someone craps on a film like this due to some liberties with how things would work, I remind them that its an action film, as long as the story is coherent and the action is top notch I will give it a chance

Typical comment of a snobby movie Elitist. My intellect isn't tied to my enjoyment of a movie. Movies are subjective. I may find a movie like Mulholland Drive boring & someone else may find it layered & full of Lynchisms. to each his own.

at least I don't judge a person based on their movie preferences. But whatever you have to tell yourself to feel superior.

Well I suppose I'd rather have no taste than be a judgmental douche like yourself. But Hey! keep fooling yourself into thinking that you're taste is movies is so refined & sensational. After all you must be so much smarter than the rest of us.

I really want to believe that someone who wears their red underwear on the outside is real.

With the talent level this film brought it should have been MUCH better.Actors aside, the director (Antoine Fuqua) is one of my favorites. After seeing this movie I checked the credits to see that it was a Nu Image Production, and it came clear to me why it fell flat.Avi Lerner started out 20 years ago with a small production company making "B" action movies (he produced my ex"s).Not to say thats a bad thing, but he was always about the "cheapest bang for your buck".Its nice to see hes finally in the large mainstream market but I just wished he put more effort into a good story/script.

The movie is very entertaining, I give it that much. It's also silly as hell. If you turn your brain off and just watch it, you can be entertained. But I would NOT call it a great movie, the acting is, well, it is what it is, and the cgi is really mediocre.
