I bet this sucks...

...as all sequels to good movies do

you're not wrong
But It'll suck even worse if you go into it looking for suckage.

reply

Well, at least someone isn't in denial.

reply

I'll check it out but I'll keep my expectations low. It looks a bit too madcap and chaotic based on the trailer. The original was like a live action cartoon but it worked because Beetlejuice had just enough screen time, and you had some quieter moments with the likes of Adam and Barbara.

This looks like it's going to be more like the cartoon, in which case I won't like it, but I could be wrong.

reply

It's hard to say at this point. It's kinda early to make that assessment. It looks like Tim Burton at least tried somewhat.

reply

It would be nice to see Burton hit his form again, or at least somewhere close to it.

reply

Then don’t see it. The rest of us are allowed to like things

reply

All? There is not a single sequel to a good movie that didn't suck? Not a single one?

reply

None from 21st century

reply

I'll be avoiding it.

I don't really care enough for the original to see the sequel.

I did the same for Top Gun. The sequel is supposed to be great, but I don't really care.

I wish more people would approach series like that. You don't need to see a sequel. Do it only if you want to.

Top Gun Maverick was *OK*, but not great.

reply

My friends really loved it. But I'll take your word for it.

reply

What I should have said was "Top Gun Maverick was *OK* but not great in my opinion".

I usually do add that but didn't this time.

I give you Godfather II and Indiana Jones and the last Crusade, unless you want to argue that The Godfather and Raiders of the Lost Ark aren't good movies.

reply

Alien and Aliens are a good 1-2 combo also.

reply

They are 20th century (not fox)
