Am I the only one who can't stand Justin Timberlake, and find that he nearly ruins every movie he's in? I can't take him seriously as an actor, he doesn't transform into any character he plays ... it's just Justin Timberlake on the screen, trying to be funny or a 'serious' actor (Bad Teacher, though this movie sucked as a whole, Black Snake Moan, The Social Network) I hate how he's in this one especially since I love the Coen brother's movies. Hopefully he won't have a big role.

this, totally. i think what made things worse was that he actually got to sing. that was just too much baggage.

Just saw the movie and didn't have any problem with this part. Truth is: I didn't even recognize the guy (only saw him in Social Network, it came to me later).
So if you don't know him, he is fine in this movie.
Bottom line: haters hate him, the others don't care.
And, after all, he can sing, can he? I guess that's good enough a reason to cast him in this tiny part.

I think they have proven they can get a good performance out of actors who have never had one and never will again after being in their movie. Look at Nicholas Cage in Raising Arizona. The man is an empty suit but was great in that film.

I don't get this trend at hating JT . He is not a bad actor and I think that most people that hate him are male's that are jealous on him cos almost all the girls like him or think he is very hot.

He's a good an actor as most people on screen, I think you just have trouble looking past the fact that he is Justin Timberlake and you've mostly seen him on MTV.

I just saw the film at a preview, and Timberlake is in it fairly briefly.

That goes for many of the name stars in the film, like John Goodman and F. Murray Abraham. Lead character Llewyn goes from place to place, and people like Timberlake are met by him for a few scenes before Llewyn moves on.
