A new version of WOKE appears

Giving minorities diverse contra-surnames.
I've seen it a few times now.
In this movie it was:
Aileen Wu ... Navarro

I think the other one I saw was an Indian woman with a Scottish last name.

reply

So everyone needs to be white?

reply

Otherwise incel fundamentalists get their tiny hearts broken.

reply

She’s also dies.

reply

It wasn’t really woke though lol

reply

Haven't see the film yet... but couldn't Navarro be a Filipina name, considering she's Asian? It sounds like she had a Japanese first name though... Nomura or something like that.

Prometheus had an Asian with a French name (Ravel, like the composer). Couldn't he have been a descendent of Vietnamese colonial immigrants tlo France?

reply

Presumably, it's meant to imply humanity is one great big racial/cultural clusterfuck at that point.

reply

Hollywood is always thinking of new ways to promote miscegenation.

reply

I'm surprised you could remember the names

reply

Kind of like the popular show Shetland with Scottish actor (Douglas Henshall) playing lead character DI Jimmy Perez.

reply

Do they explain how he got the name Perez?

reply

Yes. But not in the first episode. It’s mentioned several times over the 9 years.
The story goes he’s a descendant of a Spanish lad who got shipwrecked on the isle, fell in love with a local girl. But it is curious to many more than once.

For this movie, I don’t think they spent a lot of time casting the support cast or that they really mattered. It’s also supposed to be 2142. Would it be better if her/his/their name was Smith?

I concentrated more on the lead - Rain. She was so disappointing to me. So nondescript and uninteresting to me and she’s the important one - the one that is supposed to matter. Andy is the standout. Other than that, that part of the “idiot-like teenagers" is more or less a bust.
