23% gave this a 10/10?

Please tell me I'm not reading that right....

If this is the sad truth about moviegoers, seeing it has officially cemented in my mind the idea that humanity is doomed. When a sub-par comedy like this (5/10 at best IMO) gets treated as if it was royalty, it is a truly embarassing day for filmmaking. I think over time audiences have somehow duped themselves into thinking a few good jokes = A good Comedy Film. Definitely the worst movie of the summer, let alone the year, that I've seen.
As a suggestion; If you want a truly great comedy that doesn't degrade the intelligence of its audience by resorting to offensive and worse, Unfunny, slapstick humour, spend your money seeing 'The Way, Way Back'.

So I enjoy this flick all the way through. I laughed, out loud, all the way through. After the movie was over, I wanted to see it again. And that is not reason enough to really, really like this comedy? I didn't give it a 10, but what does it take for a comedy to be a 10 if not a laughter all the way through?

People are SO stuck in with "boy you gotta like monty pythons and other classic flicks or you're either dumb or haven't seen enough movies", I think it's old to think like that. People are not doomed, we just happen to have different taste in movies.

I respect people like you along with your logical two cents, but I think you slightly misinterpreted some of the content in my post. I never said that this movie was for dumb people, I said that this movie is average (probably mediocre), and yet, people are praising it like it's the next Holy Grail. They did the same thing with movies like 21 Jump Street, Ted, The Hangover and Superbad some time ago. Think about it. Nearly all of the comedies of this year sucked. There were probably 3 decent mainstream comedies at most. Yet, they are being held as 10/10 movies or to a lesser extent, a great comedy. If you like this movie, then that's fine. I'm just saying that nowadays are standards are so low that crap like Disaster Movie is hot garbage, Grown Ups 2 is "average", and movies like this are considered "great" or in a few cases, "classic".

who cares what the IMDb score is? I rated movies a ten that i like(place beyond the pines) and ones that i hate(evil dead remake. are you that OCD that it bothers you that the IMDb score is like this? heres a tip, watch fight club.

Ewww... I just checked some of your ratings. You need your imdb account closed. You love garbage. Burt Wonderstone, Real Steel and Cowboys and Aliens ALL 10's? I mean sometimes I vote with my heart too, but those movies suck a$$.

You must be young, because honestly no one reads into the IMDB rating like some people do. So what, 23% of the folks who watched it gave it a 10/10, does it diminish your opinion of the film in any way, shape or form?

I am sure just as many gave it 1/10. Most of these wild variations would come down to whether you like Aniston or despise her
I have been guilty of giving a movie a 10/10 for some weird reason like it had my favorite actor in it not because it was a 10/10 movie.
That why its an average rating. What a dumb thread.

Actually very few gave it a 1/10. The 10/10 scores are down from the time of the OP (16.6%, most movies drop a bit after the first few days or weeks) but the figure for 1/10 is a whopping 1.2%. You can check on these details by clicking on the number of votes (I frequently do) and I find that most films have considerably more 10s than 1s. As for We're the Millers I thought it was a solidly funny comedy and gave it an 8.

it's IMDB, so it shouldn't surprise you. This movie looked like trash based on the trailer. The poster is even worse.

The problem is that you expected too much from it, despite it delivering exactly what the trailer promised. Cheesy, cheap and slapstick humor! Nothing wrong with that. It was an easy laugh, and it didn't promise anything more. You shouldn't have know it, from seeing the trailer.

I do agree, that rating it 10 is ridiculous, but that's how it works. There are a lot of people, who always give either 10 or 0. It's either love or hate to them. If they like it, in any way, it's a 10, and if they don't, it's a zero. You shouldn't concern yourself with it, but only look at the average.

Yeah, at least that's dropped to 17%,

There is no way anyone could see this as the 'perfect' movie.

The movie directed at teenagers and that is reflected in the ratings, in which it scored above an 8 whilst adults voted it more towards a 6.

So far watched about 50 minutes of it and it has been dreadful, no particular direction and the humour is just silly rather than funny, I don't think I've laughed once but at least so far Jennifer Ansiton's bod has briefly got my attention. No way should it currently have a 7.1 imdb rating.
Just seen 'Cuban Fury' and that was certainly better than this, by the way I'm English, maybe its American humour I just don't get, well certainly for this film!

I'm so glad we have people like you to tell us all what movies to like. I laughed my a$$ off all the way through this movie and that is all that matters. So I gave it an 8 rating. You may certainly make whatever character judgments and generalizations you wish based on that. I'm sure it'll be just as inaccurate as your assessment of the movie.
