Did anyone over 30 like this movie ?

Did anyone that has seen this that was over 30 years old like this movie ? I just picked 30 years old because by then you should be mature enough to know what is funny and if it has humor and/or just childish non-policital correctness to it. Just wondering.

reply

I did, except for a few jokes/scenes which weren't funny (especially the child delivery scene which was awful).

1980
one of the best movies this year

I'm 30+. I didn't laugh out loud many times during the film, but i thought it was pretty funny. There is a point were silly humor becomes so silly it's funny. It might be silly to laugh at someones fart, but if it's done with some "taste" it becomes funny in a new way. If you take that in consideration, i might just as well say that you are immature for not processing so far and for not understanding the concept of subjectivity, but i'm not immature so i won't.
Are you one of those people who also come down on people for having "wrong taste" in music?

I'm over 30 and I liked it. Reminded me of Woody Allen's Bananas.

30 and i liked the movie.

Mimimimimi ofensive, cry some more.

I'm 59 and I loved it, so did my expat friends. I've lived in an Arab country for 6 years so far and I recognise some of their traits (though exaggerated).

Funny enough I watched it on imported DVD. For some reason the film didn't make it into the cinemas. Now that would have been worth watching - seeing the locals' reactions !!

Another film not shown here was Team America (Durka Durka !). Why not ?

I'm 38 and I found it funny. Some of the irony was pretty good and I like Anna Faris because she's a good sport. She plays a good female foil. Jewish Vaudeville humour with a British twist. Funnier than American Pie Reunion, that's for sure.

I am 23 I love comedy's and I did not care for this film, it had some funny parts but just a chuckle and that was it. Not a big fan of Borat or Brüno, the trailer made this movie look more funny then the film actually is. I love comedy but I guess I am not a big fan of Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy. I guess you either like the disgusting and weird comedy he does or you don't.

i'm 40 years old, i found this to be a waste of my time (i really like SBC usually).
at times i was thinking "this cannot be the guy that gave us ali g and borat" . the humor was just old and lame.
2/10, one extra point for the democracy-praise-speech

I'm 32 and gave it a 6. It's not really bad but not very good either. It has 4 or 5 funny moments but the rest is very mediocre. I love the scene where the woman gets hit by the poo. it hits her, not the thief. :)

That made me giggle like a 14 year old girl with way too much make up.

reply

40 - thought it was very funny - not as good as borat but it had some amazing moments.

reply

There were a handful of good jokes - mainly those which did not try really hard to be offensive. When Baron Cohen sticks to basic comedy principles there are some laughs, but the majority go very flat indeed.

I'd have enjoyed this a lot more at the age of 17, yeah.

reply

Well, *beep* Christ. You - armed with your high-caliber liberal arts degree - are the ultimate arbiter of what is funny vel non. I'm older than 17 and I thought this "film" was very, very funny. So am I stupid or what?

reply

No, I just know I would have found this funnier when I was 17. That says more about me than you. But thanks for defending the 17 year old me who wasn't stupid at all, just had a different sense of humour.

I'm 43, and I liked the movie. After seeing the trailer, I was expecting something similar to Borat, and the Dictator delivered. A funny movie, over-the-top, insulting sometimes, with plenty of LOL moments.

For me this is the best comedy of the year.
