Who else enjoyed the first offering?

I'm sick of reading all the negative comments from the Clarkson Fan Club, so who else enjoyed it? Come on, don't be shy.

It wasn't perfect. Chris needs to calm down. Matt needs to sort himself out in his to camera pieces. We need more Sabine. We need to see the other new faces. We need to get past the understandable digs at the old lot.

The new celebrity lap was a nice improvement. Not having Clarkson and Hammond was the obvious plus. The new studio looked great.

Anyway, early days, the rapport needs time to develop, and I'm sure it will.

Good God this was worst of the worst. This sucked worse then the 1990's episodes. The whole problems was that Chris Evans dude, very, very annoying. I've been a big fan of the show (brit version), even the really old episodes (pre 2003) but now I've deleted it from my DVR record list I suggest all of you do the same and save yourselves the agony that is Evans.

For me this is really sad I was so looking forward to the new series with new hosts, a fresh start...... I'm so bitterly disappointed.....It is a lost cause, this horrible miscasting will spell doom for the series.

If you want to save the show get rid of evans keep Matt Lablanc he was great, add Sabine we all like her if you need a third try someone like Hugh Grant or somebody like that if you want comedic relief.

I think it shows a lot of potential.
Evans needs to find his own stride, and he and LeBlanc need to work together for a while to work up the chemistry.

What they need to do, in the end, is to take the format and tweak it into their own.

The bits I liked:
I enjoyed the laser targetting segment at Top Gun and the footage of the Nomad (even though the challenge race was clearly fixed). The jokes at the old show were forced but okay.

The bits I didn't like:
The whole Blackpool thing. They both drove (sort of) all the way there and did nothing on the way. All that just to see LeBlanc's crappy car break down. Completely pointless and boring. The drag race wasn't any better really.
The car comparison thing before the Star In A Rally Car bit was painful to watch. It was horrendous and they had two totally mis-matched guests. The new rally track I'm not sure about yet. Right now I'm not overly keen as that was my fave bit but maybe it'll grow on me.

As for the presenters:
Chris was definitely too shouty and it was wrong to try and impersonate Clarkson. I usually like Evans but even if he calms down I'm not sure he's the right fit for this show. But I'm willing to give him some time.
LeBlanc is someone I was concerned about right from when he was first mentioned. Again he's someone I've always liked but he's always been laconic and laid back in his delivery. There's nothing wrong with that and he has a great sense of humour, but I can see how people view his laconic-ness (new word??) as boredom and disinterest. I don't see it changing and also think he's wrong for the show as it stands. But also going to give him time, it's very early days.

Overall I felt it was okay-ish. The seasons aren't long so I'll watch the rest of this set and see how it goes.

Putting the show aside, I do have something of a sort of problem with a couple of your comments. You seem to have pretty much decided that all the negative comments are from the Clarkson Fan Club. I'm sure some are, after all people were writing this show off before it was even seen. But there are others with genuine criticism about the show and to lump them all in together makes you no better than they are. Especially as you also add that "Not having Clarkson and Hammond was the obvious plus" which shows a clear bias on your own part. It's not about your opinion (which is fine as opinion) but how you put it across. If they negatives are coming from the Clarkson FC it could easily be said that the positives are coming from the Clarkson Haters Club.

Your criticisms of my comments are fair and have been taken on board. I guess my comments were aimed at those who have merely charged in with "it's *beep* rather than those like yourself who have offered a more balanced opinion of positives and negatives.

I understand the people you are getting at and somewhat feel the same. Those who dismiss the show before it's even aired just because Clarkson (or whoever) isn't involved anymore. Or those who stopped watching after a few minutes/half an hour, which is their choice but they really can't say they watched the show. Or those who are too dumb to understand that others have different, and just as valid, opinions about the show but claim them to be wrong or have some mental problem.
If that's all they're gong to say then I simply don't take them seriously and maybe make a comment back at them on occasion.

Unfortunately, it's how the internet is but in the end they're only showing their own incompetences to the world. 

i do think Chris evans presents it like someone off the dosney channel though lol

reply

I thought it was fine. Not any better or worse then the previous lot. Chris Evans is just as annoying as Clarkson is though.

reply

i didn't. short and sweet answer for you.

I kinda liked the new format, the old show was getting abit dull. If they sort out a couple of problems for the next episodes like tone down evans shouting at the audience and bring in the other new presenters then it will be fine

Well if you like a pale imitation of a show that Clarkson made his own then ok but i don't think it has a chance of developing into something interesting.
