Who else enjoyed the first offering?

I'm sick of reading all the negative comments from the Clarkson Fan Club, so who else enjoyed it? Come on, don't be shy.

It wasn't perfect. Chris needs to calm down. Matt needs to sort himself out in his to camera pieces. We need more Sabine. We need to see the other new faces. We need to get past the understandable digs at the old lot.

The new celebrity lap was a nice improvement. Not having Clarkson and Hammond was the obvious plus. The new studio looked great.

Anyway, early days, the rapport needs time to develop, and I'm sure it will.

The thread asks, "Who else enjoyed the first offering?", not, "Who would like to find as many places to complain about the show as possible?". There are plenty of places to share your dislike, you've even shown where they are, there's little reason to make this into another place.

Sorry to confuse you.

reply

Sorry Holy but you're confused.

You posted on a public forum and told people not to complain, the law of the internet demands people call your bluff.

The title it's self means both sides are valid. because no we did not enjoy it.

So sorry to break it to you, but you really are deluded into thinking you can control what people do.

reply

Control is not possible, but I guess we could expect common decency. Anyway, I think the best thing is to ignore the negative comments, since this was intended to be a place for more positive comments. Not everyone feels the needs to tell as many people as possible that we hate everything. That's why some of us avoid places like Twitter.

I enjoyed it! The early days of Clarkson, Hammond and May took a while to gel. This new version will get better.
I love Le Blanc. Evans has genuine passion, I don't mind him but he does need to turn the volume (nerves/excitement?) down a notch.
The viewing figures for tonight must have been huge but on a negative note - most of what I've seen on Twitter was negative. I'm not sure it's warranted and is possibly just discomfort with change. Time will tell I guess

I think you're right about it needing time. You can't just create chemistry between presenters. The only concern is that Matt won't stick around, other commitments will dictate that, so then the chemistry will have to start over. A big signing wasn't really necessary.

I also thought it showed promise. I can see the LeBlanc/Evans rivalry working, given time. It was beautifully shot, as ever and the ideas behind the segments were good fun. However, there were problems, as is to be expected. Evans needs to calm down a lot. It's good to show enthusiasm but you don't need to SHOUT EVERY SINGLE WORD. I also felt it followed the old format too much and would like to see the 'Star in the Reasonably Priced/Rallycar' bit scrapped or at least given a facelift - it's a worn-out segment, off-road section or not.

Obviously it's going to have a different dynamic to the Clarkson/May/Hammond Top Gear and I look forward to watching their new show as well. There's no reason why both shows can't be a success.

You know what? It was OK. Nothing more, nothing less. But it's far from the disaster that the Clarkson fanboys were gagging (and indeed actively hoping) for, given the hard act they have to follow.

It's a new team, so it'll take time for them to establish themselves (and one thing the BBC has, not being a commercial network, is shedloads of time), and I think it'll need a few tweaks as they go along. But basically, it's Top Gear, Jim, but not as we know it. But I could get used to it.

Make tea, not war. 🌈

It was god awful! I struggled to make it through, so bland and boring. Honestly, I don't know if you have a seriously low IQ, but only a complete *beep* moron would enjoy this crap.

You think that's air you're breathing now?

reply

Totally agree ... horrible. Pathetic Top Gun cliches - cringed.

Matt was ok ... mumbled a bit when he was sulking. Chris was freakin' annoying as hell.

20 minutes in walked away. Came here to give this episode a 1/10.

I thought it was a decent first episode. Obviously it will take time for chemistry to develop between the presenters and it was probably a mistake to tell everybody that there was a large new line up of presenters then only feature three of them (and then one of those only appeared in one feature). Of the features I enjoyed the 'Top Gun' and 'Nomad' sections; they felt like classic 'Top Gear', the trip to Blackpool was less good; this type of thing worked with the old team because they had a chemistry developed over years. The 'Star in the Rally Cross Car' was a good development but the interviews that went with it were a bit boring.

Now they have got the first show out of the way it will be interesting to see how it goes; I'm cautiously optimistic that it will develop into its own distinct thing rather than slavishly trying to copy every aspect of the old show.

reply

Couldn't have explained it better myself. It was pretty boring in parts but needs time to become its own. I'm definitely going to stick with it. After all, we can still enjoy Clarkson, May and Hammond on Amazon in a few months time. Nothing lost.

nobody, only you

The replies suggest you are wrong.

The reason the old Top Gear worked so well was the chemistry between the three presenters. That obviously takes time to develop - watch early episodes of Clarkson, Hammond and May and you can see the conversation seems stilted, the banter seems forced. It stayed that way for a while until certain things brought the three closer together - the challenges, the specials, Hammond's crash.

I think people are sensibly suggesting that the early indications are, given time, the chemistry between Evans and LeBlanc could become good. I personally think they should get another main male presenter, who also has the ability to lightly take the p*ss out of his co-presenters. Evans can be irritating but God knows, Clarkson could be too. However that doesn't matter so much when you had two other presenters taking the p*ss out of him for being irritating.

Given time the new setup will work. It's just a question of whether it gets given time, or people continue to throw tantrums about their heroes no longer being on it.

in ypour opinion!

I love clarkson but saying it is unwatchable is ridiculous. it has taken the ideas of the old show, but its the same show. they aint gonna revamp everythig straight away. the show just needs time.

Whether the show was any good or not or even agreeing with everything the OP said, your own post sums up the intellect and mindset of you perfectly. Being completely unable to understand the extremely simple fact that other people have different opinions to you.
So the only things that are 'completely 100% wrong' are your first two sentences as opinions on their own cannot be wrong.
But I guess that was too much for your limited intellect to grasp.
