Why did she keep going down the tunnel in basement?

She knows something bad must have happened in that creepy room with the blood handprint. And it’s just her — she’s a tiny girl with no weapon or anything. Why did she go down the tunnel to look for Keith? Go back upstairs, call police, and wait outside in your car

exactly our complaint with her!

reply

She had fallen in love with him.

reply

no because she goes BACK to help Justin Long's character too!

reply

Yeah, it was a bit odd. But she's clearly supposed to be the sort of person that runs into the burning building. I think it's somewhat believable the way it's done in the movie...

reply

Cos this films don't progress if you don't do something dumb like that!

reply

she already called the police a few minutes earlier when the man ran after her. the police said they did't have any available units. so she goes down the tunnel hesitantly because keith cries for help. she doesn't know if keith has been attacked or just fallen and broken his leg or something. but yes, it would have been wise to at least grab something she could use as a weapon, just in case.

this bothered me. if you call 911 they will show up eventually.

reply

It seems that the movie wanted to make clear that cops are incompetent morons. First the dispatch woman ("No units available right now") then the patrol car. IMHO she should have called again 911 and tell them she was a black woman and she had just shot a white dude that was passing by. I'm sure there would have been units available for that, they would have even deployed helicopters.

LMAO

But she was already shown to be overly cautious in the beginning (not wanting to stay in the airbnb, not drinking the tea, etc) and she clearly has sound mind to call the police. Her character seems at odds with being cautious and following sensical protocols and the nonsensical stuff such as going deeper into the basement and just being attached to the house in general. The last 30 minutes felt really rushed.

reply

it makes no sense that after she escapes the mama woman, she would go back. No sense.

reply

Because the writer wasn't inventive enough to think of something outside of the standard horror flick trope.
