I like Matthew Vaughn, but this shit was horrendous. Nearly walked out during the 3rd act.

shareI've seen a lot of negativity surrounding the film but I just got out of the theater and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is silly and absurd, but it was clearly meant to be. My only complaint is that it's just a little longer than it needs to be. But other than that, it's a fun film with a great cast, and a very charming performance from Bryce Howard.

I might have been disappointed at the lack of Cavill if I hadn't read beforehand that this was the case, and that the focus of the story is on Rockwell's and Howard's characters, but I did and so I was prepared for it. It's true that the advertising may have been a little deceptive but I thought Rockwell and Howard both did great so I didn't much mind.
shareThe James Bond Action doesn't work in any sense, it always feel off and just as a knock off. I was happy, that we left this as soon as possible. The rest of the movie has the same style, but there I buy it by embracing it. Outside of the Argylle Fictional World they never try to be James Bond and this works.

shareThe movie is fine. It drags as soon as they go to the keeper of secrets. Plus, I don't find a woman with blonde dyed hair, in a gold dress with mom bod and cleavage appealing to look at.

That dress, makeup, and hair ruined the third act for me.
She is a little chubby in this film for sure, but I still found BDH attractive, though I will agree that she was more attractive with her natural look before the third act. I think her drastically changed appearance, however, was supposed to help us also accept the drastic change in her character.

I agree. I loved it. It is absurd, cartoonish, and over-the-top in action and acting; and I don't care. It wasn't taking itself seriously at any point. It was a spoof of the genre and succeeded as such.

Glad to here someone else say something positive about the film. I think if they clipped about 15 minutes out of it it would be a stronger film but, especially after seeing the poor critics' score and lackluster audience score on RT, I found the movie to be a pleasant surprise. Maybe it helped that I went in with tempered expectations and I already knew that Cavill was barely in the movie.
The film is on track to lose money at the box office and that's a shame because I think Vaughn and everyone else involved deserves a win here.

I couldn't agree more. This was horrible. I mean, I'd expect the need to suspend some belief for movies of this type. But holy hell, this was ridiculous. Nothing in this movie made any sense at all. Just a waste of time and money. Glad it's not my money.
