Are they serious with Raylan's love intrest in this?

A fat middle aged black woman? It just looks so odd and feels so forced. Am i supposed to be rooting for them to get together? cause i'm not they would look ridiculous together as a couple.

reply

Raylan has gone from having two hot blondes in the original series to Queen Latifah in this mini series. Poor guy.

reply

I'm surprised you don't know why. White female fans of the show, tortured those two actresses. Look how Chris Evans' fans are attacking his gf on social media. Saying she is not good enough for him and is holding him hostage and trying to dock her personal info.

reply

I always thought there was some chemistry between him and the black chick in the original but yeah it's a shame they have to add the Woke in this the original was made at a time which wasn't as drenched with that kind of forced stuff.

reply

LOL. . .if "the original" came out today, you muppets would be complaining about the "forced" chemistry between Raylan and "the black chick in the original." You people are absurd in the extreme. Go sit down in a circle somewhere and stare at each other; no reasonable people care about your ridiculous screeds. >plonk<

reply

It was the daughter pushing it, not Raylan.
Her being black is insignificant but she's just not his type.

reply

I think Raylan did do some slight flirting at one point saying something like "Are you following me." To her ear with a wide grin. I hope they don't force it if they go there. I watched ep 4 late at night so don't quite remember, did he go inside her house at the end and did they imply they slept together or maybe he got the guest room?

reply

I didn't say black as if its a bad thing, just that he's an old white country boy who's only been with blonde white girls, and shes just not the type i'd expect him to be with, it looks a little odd. Its mainly her being fat that makes me not a fan of her as his love interest, it just feels forced and they have nothing in common and overall just looks ridiculous.

reply

I feel shallow even saying this but outside of a total lack of sexual chemistry is that she's just so out of shape. i know I should never mention such things and I know looks aren't everything but in my fantasy world friendly cohorts is a more believable direction.

Besides, Raylan had his share but he didn't hook up with every woman he met or worked with.

reply

'i know I should never mention such things'

Who says?

reply

she doesn't wear the weight well that's for sure,
i recognized her from when she was on The Mentalist 10+ years ago and even 6-7 years ago looking her up on IMDB you can see she was still pretty fit,
the latest episode we get a few good body shots of her struttin her stuff and i'd not be surprised if she were preggers the way her belly leads her into a room

reply

Yeah, she's definitely gone downhill since her Mentalist days, she was barely recognizable as the same person!

reply

I'm just now watching this series (through ep 6) and I don't really mind the Raylan/Carolyn relationship. She's not bad looking for a mid 50's woman. She has some appeal. Doesn't really seem Raylan's type. Marin Ireland (playing the detective Maureen) would have seemed a more logical casting for a love interest. I really like her on Sneaky Pete, and was hoping there would be more of her in this series.

But the Raylan/Carolyn thing is far from the biggest problem with this series, which is just subpar in nearly all ways. It's good seeing Timothy Olyphant again, but there's not much else I can say good things about. The villain isn't compelling, he just seems like your stock psycho that could have come from any series. The stuff with the daughter was annoying, and that didn't need to be forced into the series at all. I think Adelaide Clemmens (Sandy) is a decent actress and have liked her in other things, but she's just a stock cliche herself so far.

Two more to go and then I can file this away to be forgotten, I imagine.

reply

Raylan is starting to look like a grandpa so, perfect fit...

reply

He could still do better than that.

reply

What an idiotic fucking thread.

I'm imagining all the morons bitching about this part of the series are the same idiots that get turned on by silicon-filled women and fake asses and all things only white.

Such fucking immaturity here. Grow up.

reply

What uncalled for language, maybe you're the one who needs to grow up kid, just saying. People here just calmly talking about them having no chemistry, the characters not being a good fit for each other and you come up in here cursing at everyone, calm down a bit child.

reply

I HAVE READ THE ENTIRE THREAD...AND WHILE TRU WAS RUDE IN HIS POST...HIS SENTIMENT IS NOT WRONG...THIS ENTIRE THREAD IS ABOUT THE CHARACTER BEING WRONG FOR RAYLON BECAUSE...."BLACK"...."FAT".

reply

Its about them not being a good fit for each other, aesthetically, personality wise, chemistry etc. From the get go they was setting these two up with each other as romantic interests and it was forced and there was nothing there. Some points may be a bit shallow, but forgive me for wanting a character i've followed for years to end up with someone that fits him and isn't forced by diversity BS.

If he got with the cop who was black in the original Justified he worked with i'd have been fine with it, it would've made sense and there was a connection there, more than the 5 minutes he's had with this random lawyer that he has nothing in common with him. So its not like being black is why i don't want them together, but nowadays its 100% why shes black is cause they're forcing diversity into the story.

reply

Why do you automatically think it's "forcing diversity into the story?"

Is it so hard to fathom someone who might just have a thing for hefty black women?

I know a bunch of good looking in shape guys who are into girls with some meat on them.

reply

Kowalski,

I do owe you an apology - I mixed you up with the one guy who posts all the happy birthdays and asked him why he wasn't capitalizing all his words......so there is that at least.

reply

Are you serious? YOU started this ignorant threat with "fat middle aged black woman" and are upset with a few curse words? Really?

And I don't know what show you are watching, but the attraction you don't see is one I saw early on.

Oh, and if you don't want harsh words, then try posting some intelligent comments because look at the results of the crap you posted.

reply

Yeah its just a little funny when you come in here on your high horse acting like some mature adult scolding immature children, yet you sound like a foul mouthed immature kid yourself. Maybe try being a little more mature in your words if you wanna play the "You all are immature children and i'm the sensible adult talking down to you and telling you to grow up" card.

reply

As usual these days there's the inevitable over reaction.

I always crushed on Raylan so my expectations for him were kind of high. Ava was pretty cute but I was still a little disappointed with his dalliance with her in S1 because she initially came across as backward and illiterate. Not up to snuff.
She got much better and I liked her when she revealed more smarts... but not so much at first.

It's not about one thing with favorite characters and I don't get the harsh judgement when people dare to have an opinion about them.

reply

You long for the days of anti-miscegenation laws, don't you?

reply

It would probably significantly lessen the number of single white mothers raising bi-racial kids alone, so there's that.
