keanu reeves forever awful

I do not agree the Keanu Reeeves is "forever awful".
There have been more than a few times that his performance have been horrible imo, however in this one I thought he was very good.

Lol! Yeah Keanu's a terrible actor... that's why he earns more for one movie than you have in your entire life! Lol!

I disagree. Keanu is a marvelous actor. There are some truly terrible actors who have won Academy awards playing just themselves -

Keanu plays everything ... serial killer, savior of the world, ditsy surfer dude, maniacal Christian wife-beater ... and does it all convincingly. That's the reason why he has a career that has spanned almost 30 years now.

Keanu will play any part, large or small - he has no ego.

One thing - he can't do an accent.


I can name at least two Academy award winners who only ever play themselves.

Maybe, but he is one of the most AWESOME human beings to ever walk onto a Hollywood set. For that reason alone, I'll always keep my hate and disdain in check when it comes to his work. And I'll see his movies and enjoy them for what they are.

I love the fact that you thought it was relevant to put "Terrible in Bill and Ted"... As if that were a touchstone for determining the uhm... Excellence... of acting.

It's a bit like saying that Adam Sandler's character was formulaic and annoying in (insert Adam Sandler movie here) and Adam Sandler has deeply limited range (even his best flick, Punch Drunk Love is the same basic character).

The same goes for some of the other low end movies Keanu's been in.

I don't disagree that he doesn't work for every role and in some of them he straight up stinks, but there's a time and place for a spot of Keanu now and again. Matrix was fun both in spite and because of him. Point Break was passable, Speed worked pretty damned well with him.

A Scanner Darkly was OK and worked well with his style, although it was hardly Citizen Kane.

For me, that puts him in the category of "won't go out of my way to watch him, but won't go out of my way to avoid him" and quite open minded to the idea that I might watch a movie and enjoy his part in it.

In this case, I wanted to see the movie because I expected a CGI campfest. I enjoyed Rinko Kikuchi and found the antagonist annoyingly flat, matched by protagonists that weren't particularly great. But considering the role of Kai was a half-breed who was abandoned, then presumably abused, then disrespected, then treated as a toy for gladiatorial amusement, he fit fairly well as a man of few words and a closet full of issues.

I think more than ANY other actor, people hate him for no reason [looks, money, talent, whatever] and then try to come up with a plethora of pseudo reasons for hating him.

If you don't like him, ok we get it, piss off, don't watch his movies and stop TRYING to explain why you hate him. Its your opinion.

Why come along to every forum of every film he makes and essentially troll [as you have zero positive to contribute] just the usual "its my opinion and ...." crap.

Ok we know, you told us on each of his last 20 films. I am sure my 3 year old gets this, if you don't like it don't eat it?

Why EVERY film? Do you have learning issues? You don't like him, but watch every film to bitch about how bad he is? Oh you don't watch his films and bitch about how bad they are?

Just stay away? Then I am sure YOU would be happier [probably NOT] and other posters who like his movies would not have to put up with your self serving opinions about "how awful he is"
