I understand why Ellen Burstyn is in this movie

The makers of this crap-ass movie tried to make a buck by linking this to the greatest exorcism movie of all time. Putting her in it, and playing the original theme song at times was not enough to save this mess. Burstyn served no purpose in the movie, and double-jabbing her eyes out served no purpose in the story. The possession of the girls was boring and uninteresting.

Waste of time.

Basically, they thought they'd replicate the success of HALLOWEEN and Jamie Lee Curtis coming back and that's certainly not the same thing

reply

My mind must've been wandering, because I didn't hear the theme Tubular Bells until the end credits.

reply

They play it a bit earlier in the movie, I think parts of it are in the scene where they first recover the girls at the hospital. To be fair, it was barely used in the original film as well... just in the scene where she walks home from Georgetown, and at the end credits.

reply

Burstyn should be ashamed of herself. The idiotic lines she was willing to say were an insult to Blatty and Friedkin.

reply

Supposedly she appeared in exchange for the studio to fund a scholarship at a school she is involved with.

reply

Well, at least some good came out of this Horse Hockey.

reply

Duh. Have you not seen Scream 5? They talk about this.

reply

I'm surprised Blumhouse and DGG didn't reach out to 91Year old Piper Laurie before she died to make The CARRIE LEGACY TRILOGY and ruin that??

reply

it didn't work
