Problem with netflix type shows

Streaming and many cable shows. The Boys had 8 episodes. Many other streaming shows have 8 thru 13. Many folks binge whatch them...so after watching them for 1 week you have to wait a whole year for the next season.

I stopped watching Lost in Space for this reason.

I enjoyed the first season, but there was such a long break before the second season that I had forgotten a lot of the story. I got about three eps into the second season and realized that I had lost a lot of the thread of the first season.

I didn't want to devote the time to re-watch the first season. It was easier just to let it go.

Maybe before the official start of a new season, they should have a recap episode of the previous season(s).

This is a great Idea and not that hard to do just edit the most important parts of the previous season into one episode and call it episode 0 of the new season. those that want to skip it can do that but sure would help others.

THE VERY REASON I OFTEN WAIT UNTIL A SHOW IS DONE AND THE FINALE IS IN THE CAN BEFORE HITTING PLAY ON SEASON ONE...WHEN FEASIBLE...ITS AMAZING.

reply

you are correct I have no desire to wait over a year and/or rewatch the first season, which probably doesn't hold up

I have to pop an anti-depressant before I log onto Netflix.'

For some reason this made me laugh. I hope you are ok!

I like to wait at least 2 seasons before i start watching a tv series, because seasons after that are nearly always crap and i drop out and watch something else

I see a lot of responses about the time between seasons if you binge watch. That you forget the details of one season before the next airs.

But I don't think it's the time between seasons that's the issue in this case. After all, even if this were a more traditional one episode per week, it would still be almost a year before the next season airs.

I think the difference is not the time between seasons, but rather that when you watch one episode per week, you have more time for the show to establish itself. You have time between episodes to consider what occurred and discuss with friends, family, and coworkers. A once-a-week show becomes ingrained in the culture.

Binge shows are like a quick pop - watch it through - then forget about it. No time for ongoing discussion between episodes. No time to reflect on what happened previously and no time to deliberate and speculate on what will happen next.

I think it's the opportunity for a weekly show to become part of our culture that make them more memorable, rather than the time between seasons.

Again..you have to put an anti-depressant into your mouth and as someone else suggest wait for a season 2 years from now.

And you have to pay for it!

I much prefer a binge watch than excruciatingly and patiently waiting week after week, besides, you also have the option to re-watch the season right before the release of the new one.

My brother waits for the weekly ones to finish before he starts watching them. I have done the same and have a better experience with a lower chance of losing interest than waiting for a weekly release.
