Milly is gone? Ok im outta here
She was the best thing about the show.
Not to mention the ridiculous leap required to not notice raneeras face is totally different. Just disgusting.
Idiot producers.

Her underbite and profile were weird. Olivia Cook as the Queen is cute and the blonde girl holding the centipede was hot. At least this show has that, now.
shareOlivia Cook (I didn't even know her real name) has literally zero presence.
I should care about her character, but I don't. She's boring as fuck.
bingo. and bingo again for the older Raneera. I'm done with this series.
I just can't find myself caring about what happens now. I tried last night; not happening.

I've only watched up to episode 4 thus far, I'm aware the time jump is coming. I understand your frustration, this show has been decent thus far but hasn't quite gripped me. It's very centered and monotonous in a way, GOT had different families, different locations and different subplots. A greater diversity of interests and characters. HOTD is decent thus far but a bit too flat and contained, I'd agree that Milly as Rhaenyra has been the best character by far and the main interest. Her loss could be heavily felt. I need to get up to date.
shareThey are gonna bring in more houses and characters in the back half of the season and also next season. The first part is focused more on setting up the dynamics within the family than ruling the seven kingdoms because there have been many decades of peacetime.
shareeh, i get it. i get what they are trying to do. but a cardinal mistake in writing is branching off into too many subplots, and having too many characters. having said that, GOT did it quite smoothly.
but this time, i don't think it's the myriad of storylines as much as it is the characters and situations are kinda boring.
but, see, on TOP OF that, changing the ONE character i was actually bonding with to a WHOLE DIFFERENT ACTOR really just jars me so much that i can't get past it.
I agree that some of the casting choices are awful, but if the can get past that, the story is a good one, much better than you typically see on television.
sharewell, i will agree with you that it WAS good, for eps 1-5.
changing the Raneera character to be played by a new actress is just annoying. it's too many 'jumps' and i really ain't down with that, know'w Im sayen.
episode 7 was the best episode and one of the best thrones eps ever. too bad you didn't watch.........lol. sure you didn't chief. sure you didn't.
shareI havent seen anything past the 30 minuteark of ep 5.
Havent eben thought about it, actually.
But i started better call saul and just finished season one and i find myself thinking about it during the day sometimes. I liked the milly character but i guess the show didnt take root in my mind for whatever reason.
But i stand by my point that the cast change was too jarring
you like the birthing scenes didnt you, you sicko.
shareYeah ... I had not heard about this switcheroo, and was completely lost. I don't like it, and they never should have done it, especially the way it was done. Milly Alcock was superb as Young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. She had a character that is not transferrable to Emma D'Arcy, and same with the girl who played Aliment Hightower. A major blunder. How could they be so stupid?
I think they just tossed tens of millions of dollars in the trash with that bad judgement.

I guess no one here watched the trailers before the show got out, or read about the cast beforehand.
This was planned from the very beginning and the trailers had young and adult Rhaenyra and Alicent.
The only problem is, while young Alicent was beautiful, adult one is not, just boring looking. As for adult Rhaenyra, the makeup did a wonderful job with D´Arcy.

The difference with the wokeness here is that GRRM is right in the room and has allowed it. In the case of rings of dogshit they are imposing wokeness on the work of a dead author who can't object.
As far as I can see GRRM has OK'ed it, and it's his work and if he wants to put black characters in that's up to him.
eh, i agree that it's his perrogative to do that. still a confirmed change from what it was described as in the books, and a kind of bait and switch on the fans, which is not cool. probably caved for the money, which i understand.
but when one starts changing his own canon after the fact, then it calls the veracity into question for ANYTHING else in the series. if this can be 'edited' on a whim, other canon details are vulnerable too.

shareIt´s fair that you didn´t seen any stuff prior to the airing of the show. But the thing is, this time jump was only a surprise for those. The adult versions were everywhere in the ads for it, even in the posters, what we didn´t knew was when this happened.
Now, concerning the actresses, Emma D´Arcy is very unnatractive in real life due to her choices, but they did wonder with the makeup and stuff, and she seems to be a good actress. Olivia Cooke, i think she is terrible comparing with her younger self, lookswise and acting wise
What did Emma do in real life that made her unattractive?
I think the main issue I have with this whole switcharooski is why not just use makeup to make the original cast members look older?
I mean, they got King Viserys looking like he's 80. I swear he looks like that freaky crypt keeper from that show Tales From The Crypt. TFTC was a fairly popular show here in the states, not sure if it was ever aired in the UK. But here's a picture of him...

Why should we have to? TV series should be self-contained. People should not have to listen to podcasts or videocasts, read the book, or watch YouTube videos. It is really annoying.
Bingo. Well said.

But sure, she left too soon. :)
I've been enjoying the show so far although this last episode did require some getting used to due to the changes in lead actors that have come about from the time jump. Not sure how I feel about the choices for adult Alicent and Rhaenya, they're a bit different in looks and even more different in personality it seems.
I do think Paddy Considine is the best thing about the the show in terms of the acting.
I think adult Alicent looks very very similar to young Alicent. Rhaenyra's actress though... WAY different. As ar as personalitys go, well yeah - it's been a huge time jump and they've had tons of kids since then so yeah they've changed
