Was the six year old recently raped?
Is this why she got pregnant when she turned into a teenager?

shareIn the graphic novel this was based on, her and one of the other children grow into teenagers and have sex (although they are mentally still 6, which is super creepy tbh), and since everything is accelerated, she gets pregnant instantly. I'd think the movie will follow this.
share"although they are mentally still 6"
In the movie, their minds seem to age but it's not explained how. But they are acting like normal adults at the end instead of how they acted as children.
that would require acting and directing skills
shareI noticed a lot of dialogue that seemed specifically aimed at preemptively answering questions that the audience would obviously have. Whether it's the explanation for hair and fingernails not growing, or in this case they had a conversation about how they still feel like kids even though they're adults. I would guess M. Night would say that their brains had become fully formed so they were naturally more intelligent even though they hadn't learned anything new.
shareJeez Louise, I've gotten to the point where I'm just going to have to ignore every single invocation of the word "creepy". Its unfortunate It's gotten to this point.
Honestly, people reach and stretch, and try as hard as they possibly can to be uncomfortable with something, and then they have an everlasting undying need to put that discomfort onto someone else.
Couldn't agree more. The word "creepy" has lost nearly all meaning, with the way its thrown around today.
shareUnless a pregnancy lasts about 10 years, I'd say it's pretty unlikely that she got raped at 6, right? They were messing around in the tent when they started to get older and the boy he even says he didn't know that would make her pregnant.
shareWhat I meant was that the sperm was already in her when she got to the beach (because of the recent rape) and it caused her to get pregnant when she reached puberty.
sharewhy would suppose this at all? the kids grow up, infront of us, then have sex, and that causes accellerated pregnancy. its kinda all spelled out in the plot and on here several different times.
still questions? not sure it could be more obvious unless M. Night stood infront of the camera with large cue cards explaining it along with a voice over narration
