So who was responsible for earlier poisonings?

Who poisoned the dog, and more importantly who poisoned Fr. Paul? Was it Bev? Why would she want him dead at that point? She seemed very loyal later on. It's just lazy scriptwriting.

reply

Bev poisoned the dog. I assumed she poisoned the preacher because she new about the creature and Paul had told her about his plan. She was show to be impatient undermining through ought the movie and probably wanted to speed things along.

Best guess at least

reply

Bev poisoned the dog. (Implied)

No one poisoned the priest (word of God)

She may not have wanted him dead. But it's not unreasonable to think that she would bave. She's a sociopath. She's murderous. And at that point, she absolutely hated father paul.

She was super loyal later on AFTER his resurrection because she thought him something divine, and potentially could gift her immortality.

It's just lazy scriptwriting.

I love it when people presume fault on the writing first before questioning whether or not they themselves missed something.

reply

I call BS. These are loose ends. She even had a crush on Fr. Paul. I see no motive there.

reply

I think it might be because she felt she couldn’t control him.

Pruitt was far along in his dementia. So, she was running the show.

Remember, she manipulated the town into accepting the oil spill settlements and giving her the money to build the center. It was all a giant embezzlement scheme.

But then this new guy shows up and becomes a threat to her.

I can see that as a motive to poison him.

reply

i didn't get the 'embezzlement'. She somehow got everyone to donate their money to build a town center and they had a town center. Maybe they didn't need it but they didn't have to give her the money.

reply

Didn't he throw up and foam at the mouth exactly like the dog? It looked exactly like when the dog died. It was a little muddy from what I remember.

reply

I'm pretty sure he did, hence all the theorizing.

Unfortunately though, the director explained on a video q&a that he was actually surprised that people thought that.

I think the fan theory still holds up though, because I don't think the show conveyed what he intended very well. Other than Father Paul's symptoms and death, there's really no other indication that an overabundance of angel blood in the human body would eventually kill them.

reply

I think Bev poisoned the dog.

I think Paul poisoned himself and staged his death and resurrection in front of Bev on purpose to get her loyal to him.

He knew she would be massively influential in helping the townspeople agree with his way to immortality.

reply

There's no doubt Bev poisoned the dog. Notice the dress she had on at the function. It was the same pattern of dress you could see as she rose up from the dog after dropping off the hot dog.

Regarding Father Paul: It's not entirely clear. I think she tried to kill him, and since she failed, she had no choice but to jump on board and use his resurrection to her evil advantage.

reply

Paul either poisoned himself or did it with Bev’s assistance. When he’s preaching to them all about drinking the poison he talks about he he was afraid to do it but he took a leap of faith or something, so it wasn’t done without his consent. And earlier in the series there was a very ominous shot of Bev putting the poison back on the shelf, too long after the dog died for it to be related to that, but not long before Paul died. So in summary, I think he was willingly poisoned with Bev’s assistance.

reply

Bev absolutely poisoned the dog.

If I remember correctly, she was shocked when the priest was sick; indicating it wasn't her. That part was not clear to me all, but it's also been a while since I watched it.

reply

He overdosed on the vampires blood. He was drinking/finishing the cup daily.
