It’s like we went back to 2003 or something. Gay marriage has been legal in all 50 U.S. states since 2015, and there have been a boatload of children’s entertainment in the past decade that have featured gay relationships (mostly involving lesbians), but people are mad because some unimportant side characters in a Buzz Lightyear movie share a peck on the lips?
I think people are more upset for the reasons they included it rather than the inclusion of it itself. And the fact this movie is for children. I like lesbian kisses, but it shouldn't be in movies for children and they should only include that kind of stuff if it is required for the plot, not to promote an ideology.
People (outside the left bubble) care about movies and TV shows not force-feeding them "THE MESSAGE!".
This alphabet cult has become insane and absurd. I don't give a fuck who fucks whom, but I want to be left alone with the constant barrage of THE MESSAGE.
You claim to not care about a lesbian kiss, yet in that same comment, you ranted about being force fed some kind of message. It sounds pretty obvious what your problem is.
First of all, gay marriage was forcibly made legal against the wider vote of the populace. NO ONE voted for the legalization of gay marriage, and everyone voted AGAINST it whenever it was put to ballots as a proposal.
The Supreme Court FORCED the legalization of gay marriage by leaping over a very important part of the process of America's democratic republic: legislation.
NO ONE voted for it. NO ONE approved any bills for it. And NO ONE notarized the legalization of gay marriage through approved legislative consensus.
So just to put that to rest: the majority of America DID NOT approve of gay marriage, the Supreme Court, however, did.
Also, just because something is forced onto the populace does not mean it's okay. There is no benefit to promoting homosexual lifestyles in culture, and especially not to kids. It's the leading cause per demographic capita of sexually transmitted diseases, and a leading cause of suicide, depression, and domestic abuse. Those numbers also skyrocket with gays who are living in their own designated community: https://archive.ph/jCqVP
Thankfully, everyone speaking up against this shows there is still some sign of fight left in Americans to preserve some sanctity of their culture.
Half of the country is Christian. Of course you knew people would freak. I'm sure they expected the free advertising the freak out would provide. Of course they never thought "Oh wait, we will make half the money if we do this." People pretending to be shocked by this kind of reaction is getting old. Most Christians won't even make a stink. They simply will not take their kids to see something that is at odds with their religion. Funny thing about religion.
It's like you wrote that post before the movie even came out.
It is all cool to me. I like seeing both sides get a crooked nose over it. Their side for the arch judgemental-ism and your side for the mandatory social engineering quotas. May you both smell each other.
